Field Stripping Kimber1911 With Guide Rod

OK, I am an idiot, I reckon, but I can't figure this out.
I had a Springfield Armory Champion, and it came with a takedown tool that eased things a bit.
Now, I have this Kimber Gold Combat. The rod won't push in to allow rotation of the barrel bushing, so I just pulled the slide back to the correct position, and pushed out the slide latch.
Now, I can't get the recoil spring/guide rod assembly out.
What am I doing wrong, or not doing right?

EDIT NUNN I owe you an apology for my GIBE
reply to your valid question. I just get worked up over all the DO DADS that people put on 1911 pistols that make then LESS RELIABLE
in function . Beavertail Grip Safety, Recoil Buffers, Extended Safety.
Extended Slide Stop.to name few. The list goes on and on First thing you know some one will put on an ACCESSARY RAIL to install a
KNIFE . I will make a deal to you only IF you would like a TWO piece but full length Guide Rod for your pistol that does make it easier to remove. Send me a personal email with your address I will send you a like new Stainless one . Again I am sorry had a bad day at work but should have not taken it out on you . Karl
Try this.
Neither of the above replies was helpful. Why reply if you aren't going to help?
