Pachmayer Decelerator Pad

Have a lightweight SxS 12 bore that I really like. Trade-off for weight reduction is that it kills from both ends with heavy loads. Do these pads fit w/o any shaving of wood or other modifications? I've heard good things about them and they're not as fugly as slip on recoil pads.

they are grind-to-fit. Use your stock size measurements against the size measurements they give on each size pad they offer. Buy the one slightly larger,..and run it on a band sander until it meets the stock shape.

if you decide to fit a pad to you sxs, it would be best to get a pad grinding jig from midway or similar shooters supply house, the 30 to 50 dollars they cost will greatly ease the fitting, it really is not at all difficult this way, and you won't be able to slip and screw up your stock. you can use either a stationary belt sander or stationary disk sander.i have used both with excellent results. bob

As JustC stated, they're grind to fit.

If you have access to a belt or disk sander and you're handy at such things you can do it yourself, if not then it's best left to a pro.

I've tried several types of grinding fixtures and found this one to be much easier to work with.

It's doubtful that you'll find a pad that is pre-fit so some fitting will be required. The fitting does not remove material from the stock but from the pad itself. You may have to consider cutting the stock for the appropriate length of pull since the pad will add to the length of the stock.
