Ive seen Springfield rifle stocks with no recoil bolts in stock, with one toward the back of the action and with two,one to the back and one to the front of the action but never one only toward the front of the action and he says it is original GI. Is that possible ?

Quote from The Model 1903 Springfield rifle and Its Variations; "The first stock screw was approved on February 20, 1908, and added at circa serial #342.000 just behind the magazine well. The second stock screw was added in early 1917 at circa serial #650,000."
