All charges against Jussie Smollett have been dropped

All criminal charges against Jussie Smollett were dropped Tuesday during an emergency court hearing in Chicago, according to his lawyers.

The ?Empire? star agreed to perform community service and will surrender his $10,000 bond.

He was accused of lying to police when he told them two men unleashed a racist and homophobic attack on him in Chicago.

    He checks two privileged boxes.

    Fact is that his false claims potentially damaged folks from both of the privileged categories. I doubt the $ 10,000.00 covers the costs of the Chicago PD and courts, but it helps.

    Chicago probably figured there was little to gain in spending more money on this little POS, and I tend to agree with them.
    Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.

    Yep, would cost a lot more for a trial than it would be worth. The police dept. should just fire a law-suit for the costs involved. Plus Chicago didn't want any more press coverage ---- him being black and gay

    OK, I'd be satisfied if they had given him a suspended sentence, community service, forfeit bond, & let him walk.

    But, the LEAST they should have done is require him to plead guilty to a crime carrying a possible sentence of > 1 year in jail. THAT would have prevented him from firearms possession for the rest of his life, & he wouldn't have been able to vote for an indeterminate period.

    He wanted to commit a felony, make him a felon.

    The C.P.D. spent over 20,000 man hours on this case! The relationship between the C.P.D. and the Cook Cnty. States Attorney office has been strained for some time. "Kim Fox" the Cook Cnty. States Attorney has caused a real debacle and it will be interesting to see how all the cards fall.

    He will be on every talk show on TV and more famous than ever now.......Charges were dropped because he was a first time offender and the nature of the crime, but even the DA said he was guilty and his record will reflect that.

I imagine the US Attorney in that District has already had a conversation with Attorney General Barr.
