Beretta 950

I just picked up a Beretta 950 (no safety model) in 22 Short. Came with a single magazine. Factory replacement magazines are pretty costly. Aftermarket such as Triple K aren't cheap and unfortunately .... they're made by Triple K. :|

What is cheap are Model 21 magazines in 22 lr. Will these fit into a 950, can a spacer be added similar to what is done with 10mm to 40 S&W mags?

I see 950 model barrels and slides in 25 ACP are pretty cheap (and mags cost about $18.00 each, made by MecGar) and am wondering if the ACP slide/barrel can be dropped on to the 22 frame.

This isn't a gun I'd shoot often. Just a bit of experimentation and being economical getting together.

Just reading your post and looking up the pistol was more work than I would care to invest in a 25ACP or a 22 short pistol. You have perhaps a functional pistol now, spending more money/time to convert it to 25 seems counter productive. I would invest a little more and get a real pistol that could be useful when you actually need a pistol IMHO.

For $18 bucks, I would buy one of the Mec Gars, and see if it would feed the 22 shorts OK. Might work? Because the 22 short has a rim, and the 25 is rimless. OD's might be close enough, so they both would feed from the same mag.

Years ago, I had one of older German made pocket automatics from the 20's. It was a Ortgies .32, that had magazine, that was also usable for .380. Because the 32's, was a semi-rimed cartridge. That aren't that much smaller in diameter, than the rimless 380. Same, same as the .22 Short and the .25ACP

There is no interchangeability between the Beretta 950 & the Model 21. Period.

Calibers of the 950 should fit on the same frame, but minor fitting may be required.

Correct- nothing interchanges between the 950 and 21.
The 950 is an excellent little gun. I believe MecGar makes magazines for them, or you can check Ebay.
And, the 950s are "real" guns.

Well, I do already have an Escort. Just in case ... ;)

From what I see, the 22 short mag has a spacer up front with a little ramp. I'm doubting the ACP could be adapted without it being a PITA. I picked up a few 22 short mags at the Reno show on the cheap, will see how they work. Once CA allows me to pick up the deadly 950.

    The 950 .22 & .25 magazines are completely different.
