Target Rifle Sling Swivel??

Is this a Target Rifle Sling Swivel?? It adjusts up and down and move in a base.
What rifle set up was his used on? Thanks

    I bet that it will slot into a freeland or standard rail...

    Almost certainly for a Winchester model 52 or a Remington model 75...

    Initially an inlet plate with approx. 5 screw holes - it morphed into a full length rail set into the underside of the forend from trigger guard to just short of the front end of the stock...

    Bipods and palmrests and sling cuff swivel attachment points...

    While noticeable as a model develops and advances in design over it's production run - many older models of target or match (3 or 4 position 50 yd / known distance competitions) were retrofitted with new piece of kit as equipment evolved (a reflection of what was being used in international or postal matches - or as seen during the Olympic Games)

    Hopefully the picture in my minds eye translates well onto the page or into a turn of phrase.
