I don't recall ever having seen Marlin or Winchester rifles that were made in large numbers with peep sights. Likely just my ignorance but I was wondering if anyone knows the production numbers for the 510-P. Were peep sights an option that other makers didn't bother to give an individual model number to?
While on the subject, does the aftermarket Williams sight enhance or detract from the value of this lever action 1894?

I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly

Generally drilling and tapping holes reduces the collector value. On "shooters" it has less effect. If it was already factory D&T and the sight was added no harm, factory installed is a plus just like any other special order feature.
I like the Lyman 48, with an iris aperture. The Williams will work but they don't quickly adjust like the 48's.
