A Sad Colt Story

I've got Dad's Super .38 that he bought in 1957. He didn't shoot it much and neither have I; it still looks pretty new. Today, I thought I'd shoot it a few times. At the second shot, the left grip panel fractured at the bottom screw and a piece dropped on the ground. I fired two more shots (all I had put in the magazine). I thumbed the slide stop and when it closed, the right grip broke in the same place! So there goes both the original grips.

If this is a clean break, hold the pieces together with light finger pressure back side up. Make sure there is no angle to the pieces and lay a thin bead of Hot Stuff along the break line.

While you'fe at it check the other screw holes for hairline cracks and give those a bead of HS also.
