ID this B-Square tool

What is this B-Square tool used for? The brass block measures 2 1/4" long, 1" wide, and 1/2" thick. Any info appreciated.

    Thanks! This one is stamped B-Square, shown in the first picture. What if any is the value?

    I've got a similar one but I don't think its a B-Square worth about $20 at most.

    Also when they came out flat tops on AR's were unheard of. Pretty much all the scopes were mounted on the carry handle. This tool was of no value to bore sighting AR's as it still got you no where as to the height you actually needed to get to. It probably might have helped  on some bolt action rifles though.
