SW model 27-2 5in.

I just purchased a SW 27 with a 5 inch barrel.

The seller says it has never had the barrel changed.

The SER# N60744x dates it at 1979-80.

The Blue Book I have has the 5 inch discontinued in 1977.

If the 77 end date is correct then it seems like 2-3 years is a long time to have transitional models being assembled.

Maybe the book is not accurate on this?

I hope to get some opinions please from knowledgeable Smith & Wesson guys.

3rd Edition of the SCSW. Notes that 5" M-27's, were made as late as 1999. Although, regular production of the 5" M-27. Ended in 1979.
