AutoMag II Sear Spring

Recently bought an AutoMag II in 22 Magnum. The sear spring was a bit weak so I decided to replace it. No issues on disassembly or reassembly .... except with the darn sear spring. I'm screwing up something and getting no tension on the sear.
The sear spring has a long and short dogleg. Whatever I'm doing wrong has to either do with orientation of the spring or not hooking onto some part of the frame.
I've viewed schematics, tried YouTube - can't see what is the correct way to set the spring in the sear.
Anyone one reassembled and can help?
