A few thoughts on climate change

us55840us55840 Member Posts: 31,289 ✭✭✭✭
I don’t much believe in the climate change some keep pushing when, in fact, the climate has been changing for eons and still is.
Therefore, the reason we have spring, summer, fall and winter!   B)

“It reached 100 degrees in Alaska – Once
Over a hundred years ago, in 1914, Fort Yukon recorded an official temperature of 100 degrees, according to USA Today.   Believe it or not, that mark of 100 degrees ties the all-time high temperature in the state of Hawaii.  Not surprisingly, Alaska also holds the record for the lowest temperature ever observed in the United States. That bone-chilling figure of -79.8 degrees was recorded in the mountains of northern Alaska in 1971.”

IF, as they say, the earth is getting hotter ........ why was it 100 degrees in Alaska in 1914 and then –79.9 in 1971?

Well, ok that is climate change too but not the direction the “sky is falling” gang promotes.

I think maybe you have to look at averages rather than extremes.

The human race has proved to be adaptable over many millennia. Places that now are inhospitable to farming and supporting populations will be perfect if the doom and gloom sayers are correct. Northern Canada and Siberia come to mind.  If they are worried about the amount of CO2 in the oceans now what will be the dilution effect of the ice melting? Ice age move south and heat age move north. You southern boys will appreciate Michigan when we become the new Florida.😁Bob

I still remember it wasn't that long ago the "experts" were predicting a new ICE AGE.

Yes, I believe that was in the 1960's as I recall.

10,000 years ago were I’m sitting right now there was 150 foot of ice, now it’s gone and we grow crops. All weather is directly controlled by the sun. I don’t believe man is capable of changing or controlling the weather, if we were able to do this we would have perfect weather everywhere. Bottom line it’s a planet, it’s ever changing. Governments are trying to control people with this lie that we are to blame for changing weather.

"Follow the science" they say.  Humm, seems they can be and have been very wrong, often.

Dr. Al Gore III will be along and explain it to you heathens. There is NO money unless there is a made up something and it has to involve the USA cause that's where the money is.

THE CLIMATE CHANGES ALL OF THE TIME...............................we cannot control it any more than neolithic man could control it.

Climate change policies and the carbon credit proposals are simply the newest way by the left to try and exert political control. It is ALL ECONOMIC politics designed to exert CONTROL over the masses.

    Gruntled2,
    That's an inconvenient historical observation.
Climate "experts" have been wrong more often than they've been right.

Spent enough time at the equator to know climate change is BS. At least for the past couple hundred years since recording temp has been constant .

From a scientific point of view climate change could only happen via precession or nutation of the earth on its axis or a gravitational perturbation from an unknown source.  Man is not capable of such.

I thought everybody knew that our climate is being controlled by ET's

Seems many leftist gov't types have picked up where organized crime left off.  Extortion of American tax dollars wanted with a promise to keep our temperatures at SAFE levels for us Sheeple to continue providing them tax dollars!  :s

Sorry, I may have just put this post in Politics.......but I just couldn't stop the truth from being said!

Who can possibly argue with this.  Get the commies in control and global warming will be the least of any ones problems!!

No food, no electricity, no gas, total societal collapse, those of us left, wondering around like characters in the Mad Max movies but no problem!!!!   No more man made global warming!!!!  What's the problem???

If you notice articles on the "net" and in newspapers, yea I read them locally, they all mention factures to do with "climate change." The indoctrination is in full swing. The hurricanes, the fires, tornados record heat, record cold all have to do with "climate change."  :/

Climate changes every season and folks don't seem to lose their mind.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

I am an old man but I have seen weather patterns change since I was young.I have no idea if its natural, man made or voodoo.I remember when we had corn up in late March. Now we might still get a frost into mid May.One of the last few Novembers we had a 90 degree day or two.

The Earth is forever changing. Where our farm is in Iowa we have limestone with seashells in it. So, apparently the farm was under an ocean at one time. Things have changed a great deal since then, but eventually we may be under an ocean again. Continual change.

It has happened again since then.

Exit Glacier near Seward is a perfect, well documented example of the results of climate change.  It has been thoroughly measured and studied.  Here is a picture of the results.  The "rings" depict the extent of the glacier's toe in the labeled year.  Sure enough it's visible proof that the glacier has been retreating since the Little Ice Age.

But.... what caused the retreat?  This photo appears to be damning proof of global warming.  It is also damning proof that any warming was not caused by Man.  The glacier retreated further from 1917-1926 than it did 1997-2007.  Here's a picture to prove it.

Climate change impacted by environmental conditions? I believe that possible. No matter how big the ocean is if you pee in it  enough it might get pretty nasty. Same as air and pollution impacting the suns rays etc. etc. Possible of course, but as noted regardless of mans influence one good volcano or forest fire can spew a hell of a lot more and climate has ice aged and heated for eons without man around

Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

I HAVE THE DEFINITIVE ASSESSMENT..........................Climate change is real. It has been changing all throughout the ages. Geologists have proven that the Earth has gone through heating and cooling cycles due to natural forces at work on this planet for a LOOOOOONNNNGGGGG time. We are in a time of change. Humans are too small to effect the global climate to any significant amount as claimed by the climate credit (global tax) proponents. If you live on the coast.........sometimes storms happen, and we recognize them more now because the coastal areas have EXPLODED in population since 1900. THE INTERNET. Globalist mainstream media and interests. Al Gore. Evil Republicans who want to open restrictions proposed by the tree hugging crowd (though most ((Republican Christians)) believe we should be good stewards of the environment yet still advance our quality of life)...............and send us into a coal fired, fossil fuel hell. Right bad, left good....the further left that you is, the betta' that you be. Tear down statues of racist founding fathers, firebomb police stations...............beat *'s that don't agree with you over the head with skateboards and shoot mortar fireworks at police..............

Did I leave anything out? I could go on.

    BTW..............GO TRUMP.

Let me add that horizontal drilling and natural gas recovery..............VERY CLEAN BURNING...........can fuel us for more than the next century.........................but I digress. Tomorrow I am going to chain myself to an underpass support column in Austin, Texas and claim that when I am dislodged.................oh, wait, THAT WON'T HAPPEN...............my camping rights are being violated.

Here are some fossil remnants of a tropical forest.  Guess where they were found?

That's right, Svalbaard Norway.  Midway between continental Norway and the North Pole.

Continental drift may have had a wee bit to do with that.

Good point, boost. In less than four years, Trump undid all the good that Obama and Biden did in the previous eight years to the extent that fires burn in CA and hurricanes strike the Gulf Coast.

Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.
