How to find original front and rear sites for a 300 Savage

speatrossspeatross Member Posts: 1

I have inherited my Dad's 300 Savage, I absolutely love this gun! However because he put a scope on it the front and rear sites are missing. I'm getting rid of the scope and trying to restore the gun as best I can but need to find the original sites if possible.

The serial # is 617765 which puts the manufacture of 1951 or later. I know the gun was likely purchased in the 1950's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You would have to know what commercial sights Savage was using at that time. Personally, I would just put the current commercial sights on it that I liked. The Savage open sights were very basic.
