There are advantages to both. One may keep the enemy from attacking but will make you an initial target. The other will possibly keep you and others alive by being an unknown responder to the initial threat.
Concealed carry is worthless if everyone already knows you're 'armed'(as with the skunk). I see guys walking around with T-shirts or caps proclaiming this or that gun related topic but often, if I watch them for a while it's obvious they're carrying. I wouldn't have paid that much attention if they hadn't been 'bill boarding' their opinions.
I'm just another 'old guy' wearing a button front shirt & seed corn cap and seldom does anyone even notice the OC crossdraw holster. This is one reason I prefer crossdraw. Even OC, the gun/holster is at least partially hidden by my forearm and far less noticeable than a strongside holster behind the hip.
...Ive carried a Colt 1911 (45acp/10mm) in various models, Commander, DE, Government, concealed my entire life, and have no reason to change...I'd rather surprise some piece of filth rather than have them know Im carrying...some scum bags are nasty enough to shoot you, then go about their evil deed if they think you might be a threat...concealed has worked a long time for me...
".and now we all know YOU are carrying."
I've 'carried' for most of my life and never really made a secret of it. Heck, I'd carry my PDW full time if it didn't upset so many folks when I go to town.
I carry daily if out and about . It is concealed . I am 66 years old and walk with a cane . To most young punks I would look like the perfect victum
Both
am I the only one who wonders what canceled carry is???????
I've been reading this since the op posted it, and I'll be dipped, that is what it says...
In order for the word “canceled” to mean what you are inferring, it would need two “l”s. Or, “cancelled”.
Posters need to proof-read what they send. Or go back to school and learn proper grammar and spelling.
I carry almost everywhere I go. I'm 75, and too slow to run and too old for an a** whipping. I don't advertise the fact that I am armed, but am comfortable with the thought that I may one day have to protect myself, family, or an innocent person. I'm also comfortable with the fact that I will probably have to deal with the consequences of my actions.
I use to just carry when we went out of town mostly on vacation to other states , but even the small town I grew up in you just never know so I carry most all the time any more . like most I hate the thought of having to use such force but I rather feel bad than me of a family member be dead growing up the old saying I head very often "better to be judged by twelve than carried by six " has always stuck with me
I tend to agree open carry in most areas you just stick out as the 1st target . if in a room full of every one open carrying would be a bit different but that is not going to happen at least around here . my vehicles have no gun related decals or bumper stickers or any funny signs on the house like shoot first ask questions later and similar .
I only open carry when I am hunting…
Otherwise I adopted the gray man mentality years ago…
conceal carry in the open,,,
open carry under concealment,,
Hope this helps
