If I am a private citizen, not a business, and I sell an item on gunbroker, do I have to collect sales tax?

G.B. will collect it on the sale on the amount and take care of getting it to the states that require it which is almost all now. You will be billed the tax on your monthly statement since you received the "total amount due" from the buyer.
Well, that sucks because I never got sales tax from the buyer, so I guess I'm gonna be on the hook for paying the sales tax myself.
That should have been included on the GB invoice. Just hit the View Invoice button.
It was included on the invoice, but the money order I received was for purchase price and shipping. I'm quite sure if I emailed the buyer now, and asked for sales tax after he received the rifle, he'd be like "come to texas and get it if you want it". I think I've learned a lesson the hard way,......again.
yep😣
Won't cost anything to ask. If it were me and I shorted a seller he would get his money.
That's what feedback is for.

Was your buyer tax exempt? I sent in documents claiming tax exempt status. I don't buy much, but when I do, it's for resale, so no tax.
No, you do not have to collect sales tax. Gun Broker will collect it on your behalf by including it in the total of the item and will force you to pay it once a month.
Should have told him he was short before you shipped. Now that he has the rifle, I would eat the tax.
