I have come to posses a 13+1 - that sure as heck appears genuine Colt and has legit serial numbers. I guess I was not aware that in all, (or at least most), likelihood it is some kind of kit conversion. How regular a retrofit us this and who are the main players that sell them. I also assume for purists it devalues the piece, yes? Have at gurus and thanks in advance.

I assume the slide is marked Colt?? What markings are on the frame?? Para used to sell some double stack frames.
I think Ricci nailed it. Para Ordinance frame, Colt series 70 upper. If you have big hands it should be a good shooter. Bob
what you have in a para ordinance frame , the frame is the gun, the slide was made by colt, and does not change the fact that the gun itself is a para.
I'm believing it - but not understanding why someone would do it. Unless they were just fat w/parts, or wrecked one of them I suppose. Para Ordnance 1911's aren't exactly being given away out there on GB. Hey - I have been known to jack w/stuff in the name of science. It's HD's whole marketing model: take a reasonably functional motorcycle and replace parts on it till it barely runs, BAH!! 🤟
It was probably done thirty five years ago when a double stack .45 was a new thing.
Well, little Intel has come to me that we can take w/a grain of salt: guy who knows the guy who put it together says its a P80 polymer lower and Wolf custom slide.
Are you talking about the 1911 you posted photos of?? I don't remember Para ever making poly frames and if someone made that frame and marked it with a S/N and Para trademark?? Well, someone might be going away. That is clearly a Colt slide. Just my opinion.
Like I said, just add salt... You gotta put on your BS boots when you talk to certain people about dogs, horses, guns, women, and cars.
Not sure what your friend is describing, but it isn't the gun in your pics.
This is a Para Ordnance frame. Look familiar? Bob
Mr. Bob On-The-Case!!! Indeed it is. Makes feel a bit better. It's also a hell of an endorsement for original engineering.
