Game Camera Recommendation

Toolman286Toolman286 Member Posts: 3,254 ✭✭✭✭

I'm looking for a new game camera & I see that several members here post great photos. I use them for a combination of wildlife & to see who was on my property. I don't need wifi or bluetooth, etc. Yes, infrared flash, quick trigger time and most of all, easy to program & operate. (With the ones I've been using, I never know if I'll get anything.) I know you'll be a great help. Thanks AL

only trouble I have had was with a moultrie, their customer support said I had to use enegizer batteries or the warranty wasn't any good, just so happened I was and they sent me a new camera that didn't make it a full year either, but no warranty on the replacement, I switched to stealth cam but I don't have the fancy ones that send info to your cell phone or that stuff. I just take the 3 picture burst and go and change cards every week or two..

Another vote for Stealth Cam. The next one I want will send pics to my phone.

I've had Moultrie and stealth cam, another vote for stealth cam. SC is faster and took better pics. Moultrie did ok for a few years until someone destroyed it for me🤬, it was in a lock box so they couldn't steal it.

That said, these were ALL bottom end products, prob $50 each. There are some awesome ones out there, but I never could invest the $ to try em out.

I've tried Wild Game Innovations, (WGI), Tasco, Browning, Bushnell, Stealth, Moultrie, bought them all on sale for maximum price of around $100 for the most expensive ones being Browning and Bushnell.

Do not buy anything that has the WGI name especially a camera, they aree the harbor Freight of Cameras.

Browning is usually good and easy to program and really good pictures day and night. Next for being user friendly to program is some Bushnell's. (around $100. I try to buy the type here that I can use a external gel cell battery and the Browning is usually a 12v battery and the Bushnell is 6 volt.

I have some Stealth cameras that are less than $100 that just keep on going like the energizer Bunny. The stealth are normally easy on batteries. If they start skipping pictures or not taking very many pic's especially no night pictures, they need new batteries. The battery indicators say the batteries are 40-50% but they need replaced.

They usually loose their date time and programming and are not user friendly to re-program and the digital display takes some guessing at what the letters and numbers are. Missing pixels even when new.

I've never lost a camera to thieves yet. I put up signs that say, SMILE BIG, Cameras in USE.

Some of mine have a 1/8 inch cable lock but could be stolen easily by just breaking the plastic that holds the cable to the camera. But trespassers are not really thick in my area except few during deer season and I live on a private driveway in sticks. I also have cameras on the driveway. Some of them are the POS WGI's and don't even operate and placed so as it appears they might.

I watch Northern Toll and Radio Shack on-line and buy the AA's in bulk packs.

Seems the copper top batteries do not last very long and have habit of corroding quite often as compared to the others. You have to have internal batteries installed even when using a external battery source.
