Digital Coupons

yoshmysteryoshmyster Member Posts: 21,858 ✭✭✭✭

So I'm doing my weekly grocery list by what's on sale. It seems Safeway and Lucky are going in to these Digital Coupons where you need to down load it on your cell phone. Safeway started first and seems Lucky is also in on the scam. I reckon it's to keep tabs on folks purchase. Being low tech guy I'll be missing out on their 3 Day "Digital" Sale. I got 21/30 count shrimp at $3.99 last week so no big loss. Kind a shrimped out from it.

They do have true cod at $7.99 a pound this week. Kind a in a mood for some fish fry. I see that they have some chicken legs for Buy 1 Get 1 (I'll see if the per pound is good) then I can have fish and chicken fry. Oh for your information Ling Cod is bad for deep fat frying. They're like chicken breast. Dry. It'll be good if you ran a pub. It'll boost beer sales.

Now for the sides?

I've been doing the Safeway/Albertsons digital coupons for years and have saved thousands of dollars on groceries and gotten a lot of gas discounts also. You can do the coupons from your computer, not just your phone, when you get signed up for their 'Just for You' program. It'll send the deals to your email and you can then go 'clip' the ones you want. You have to enter your phone number at the register when you check out, but that's not a big deal.

Yep, I save a lot using Kroger's and as @NeoBlackdog says, don't have to use phone, any device that can get to the web works, They do track what you buy though and the emails are tailored to your purchases, but you are already being watched so might as well save some money and get the gas discounts...

I find with the coupon thing is only waste my time on the really good deals like coffee where it's like 3 dollars off of Safeway puts out pretty good deals op here on Thursday in the meat department in large quantities... I just cut and freeze.

I have a Kroger card that gives you money off grocery items but also gives you money off for gas. When I filled up at the end of last month I paid $1.47 a gallon for gas. They may list anywhere from 300 - 400 items a week and 4x the points on Friday purchases. How ever the last 2 weeks I only clipped 2 coupons and that happens from time to time. They also send me about 12 extra coupons a month for things I actually buy. According to them I saved around $1200 in groceries this year.

they CAN override those coupons if the cashier is willing, I don't own a cell phone and have asked the cashier what am I supposed to do, go buy a cell phone and spend $100 a month just to get a coupon?? most are to afraid to do it but they or their supervisor can overide the digital part and still give you the digital price if they want to...........

You don't need your phone. Click on the item. When it comes up on the right hand side click on it again. Scroll down where it says add item and click again. It has now been added to your Just 4 u card. Always make a copy of your list to prove you copied. the coupon. You can also do what hillebille said.

hillbille  - Didn't know you could do that. I'll have to remember to ask.

elubsme - Your description of action to take is way over my low tech mind.

Actually I do all my digital coupons on the computer. trying to do it in your phone just sucks. Besides most phone websites are totally different then what you see on the computer.
