Great Christmas Concert, but then there was this:
Attended a Christmas Concert put on by my grandson's grade school.
The choir leader/teacher did a great job, the kids sang wonderfully and included a lot of motion and coordinated movements with the songs - a very enjoyable performance.
There was one sour note that frankly has me befuddled.
When singing 'Deck the Halls', the line 'Don we now our gay apparel' was replaced with 'Don we now our pride apparel'.
Can anyone tell me what conceivable purpose this substitution serves?
How on earth can taking an innocent word like 'gay' and replacing it with a word that purposefully brings gender and sexuality into the song be of any benefit?
On a very positive note, 'Silent Night' was included in the performance, something I had thought would never happen in public schools today.
