A neighbor of mine shot a duck - in Arizona - but doesn't know what kind it is. Anyone here know? And are they good eating? If not - please say why. The duck has been processed and only the breast meat is avail to review so no stomach contents to sort thru. Thanks!

One of my brothers is an expert on ducks but is away at the moment. I would suggest that you check the ducks stomach for fish, while dressing out. If present......avoid eating it!
Looks like an American Black
Why avoid eating it?

That should work well. Go shoot it then find out if there is a season. Pick up the garbage in the lake as long as you are standing there.

My buddy was a big duck hunter. He liked to eat wood ducks. He said the merganser was a fish eater and tasted terrible.
