evileye fleagalevileye fleagal Member Posts: 4,238 ✭✭✭

It hangs up feeding, I think it's the lifter dog pushing it up to high.

Looking for a remedy, and/ parts, dog, pin ,cam

And howdy, it's been a while.

Lots getting done around the house and backyard

Will post video/ picture when downloaded

Thanks for any help

I have taken them apart and cleaned them. Never had one mess up. Sure Numrich has parts.

What type of ammo are you feeding it. From the reading I've done today it sounds like they like the heavier (240 grain) jacketed bullets. Good luck!

Just a thought, do you have other magazines ? I thought I was having an issue with my Ruger 77/44 but it turned out to be a mag issue..

Take the carbine apart & clean it, over 90% of the problems with Ruger 44 Carbines are caused by shooting cast lead bullets which jam the gas system. Ruger manual says jacketed only. Yes I own one & speak from experiance.

Yes, feeding the 240s, but hunting type, going to try fmj.

No mag with this one, tube feed.

Just had it stripped and reblued, that's when the issue started, I've poured over the schematics, everything is in place, I now own the most polished trigger and feed ramp ever, new springs and pins, it's got to have something to do with the lifting dog and/or the lifting dog cam.

It just seems like it is lifting too high.

I apologize for the grammar and spelling

Life is good for me, even if the well went out yesterday, irrigation only.

Yep that's the 24 yo pump with the wall worn off you can see the impellers, I figure the bladder tank busted just before I bought the house and it may have cracked it then, 7 years later it finished, but it pulled out and new pump installed.

Thats all the mechanical replaced now.

Backyard water fall is so good, pics coming soon

I had one of those many years ago. It was a great gun, totally reliable as long as I didn't feed it Elmer's semi-wadcutters.

If it worked perfectly before disassembly and reassembly, then that is obviously where one should start. Those early tube fed versions were very reliable. I never did really like the Mini 14/30 type .44 carbine.

Just a thought, but I've seen an older Benelli shotgun before exhibit feeding issues which pointed to the carrier, but couldn't get it lined out. Shooting it in a vice with a high speed camera looking at it, we figured out that the shell stop wasn't catching the shell every time and when it missed, it allowed the shell to go too far back and would jam on feeding. Those early HK versions were designed to clear the shell carrier (which got abused later by people "ghost loading" them to allow for an extra shell and they had to redesign it). Anyway, you might double-check the cartridge stop while you are looking just in case.

    Here's the schematic for it:
