Story of a Crazy Cat

When I lived down in Georgia, I had a nice new 14-wide mobile home. I had it out in the country on a lot in the woods, not a trailer park. I got a tiny kitten for a pet and named her Miranda.

A pet cat in my house has got it made. She's an indoor/outdoor cat. Gets to play in the woods all day, and then snuggle up by the fireplace at night. [Yes my trailer had a wood burning fireplace.] I'm drinking coffee, I put a shot of half and half in the cat's bowl. I'm eating venison steaks, Miranda eats venison steak.

After 3 years in the trailer I had built a nice big log cabin on Lake Sinclair. Miranda and I moved up there and everything was going well, I thought. One day I came home from work, and she was gone! I put up "wanted" posters, I talked to the neighbors, nothing. Two months went by, one morning I was going in to work and there was Miranda, on the shoulder of the highway, eating a chipmunk she had just killed. I stopped and walked up to her, she recognized me, but would not let me touch her. She was living in the woods 3 blocks away from my home. It was November with temps of 30 degrees at night, but she'd rather live in the woods than in my deluxe log cabin, go figure. This went on for 2 months.

One day, one of my buddies at work told me some neighbors 1 mile away had my cat. I went over there, they had a 14 wide trailer out in the woods. The little girl was out in the yard, feeding Miranda half and half, petting her and calling her "Blackie." The father said my cat had showed up two weeks earlier, his little girl loved the cat for a pet and wanted to keep her. I told the guy the cat liked his place more than mine, and I said "Goodbye Miranda" and I left.

I guess Miranda preferred a trailer to a log cabin.
