what i have found shooting rats in a chicken house it that my rem 580 single shot smooth bore with kill better with the older style crimped .22 shot shells. the .22 shot shells with the plastic end cap do not do as will,(donut holes in the patterern)i think the plastic end capped shell rely on the rifling to rupture the plastic end cap. you can get the crimped shells but you will have to look. eastbank.
