In search of "Old Model" Ruger Blackhawk

RocklobsterRocklobster Member Posts: 7,060
.44 caliber, mfg 1956-62. At least NRA "very good" condition. No ridiculous pricing! [:D]

Also need to be willing to ship to valid 03 FFL. Thanks!

I wouldn't buy one unless someone did a Rockwell test on the frame. That goes also for the 357.
I had an early soft frame 44 that Ruger made good on after 25 years.
Several 357s that were shot a lot were loose.
Later on Ruger learned to heattreat the frames.
They should read about 32 on the rockwell C scale.
Mine read B-99 which is "as cast" hardness.

v35, thanks for the info, I was unaware of such. No intention of putting 1000 rnds/wk downrange with a 50-year-old revolver anyway, mainly just want to round out the collection.

I've had the .357 about 10 years, have fired maybe 500-600 rounds. Have no idea how much it was used before I got it. No problems seen, though.

golferboy426, great suggestion! I believe I'll make my way there today. (that reminds me, it's a beautiful day out, might just go lose a few golf balls [:D]).
