Where is Brat hiding?

The newly elected Brat came out yesterday and gave an 8min press conference and did his usual...refused to take questions and quickly ran back inside his HQ after his 8min....and he announced that he had just hired Eric Cantor's minion from his 2010 campaign. Why does the guy refuse to take questions? Is is so unprepared that he is afraid to take questions? What is up with the guy? When is he going to get up to speed?

Was not aware that he was elected to anything. He is the CANDIDATE of his party for the seat that Cantor was holding. The election is yet to come. BTW, understand his opponent will be another faculty member from RMC.

Who in their right mind would talk to the fly-by-media? At this point it would be wise of him to get ready for an election that the Prog-Lib-Socialist AND the Elite (R) are going to do EVERYTHING they can to see him lose. If the media can't talk to you they can't snip 3-8 second sound bites to make you look like a fool now can they?

The Ruling (R) party hacks sure can't let some upstart kick one of their ELITE brothers in the butt and get away with his uppity ways, Brat is not of the chosen corrupt.

Nobody really knows anything about this guy and since he won't talk to the press he is leaving the impression that he is just not ready for prime time. I get it that no one was more surprised that he was chosen over Cantor was......HIM...but he should have been more prepared for questions from the media as he is going to need them to get his message, whatever that is, out for people to review and make up their minds about him. Being a college prof with an academic degree he should be prepared to talk with folks as that is what he does...and that he is ducking every opportunity to do so leaves a lot of doubt about how ready he is for prime time and the "big show" because know he has to demonstrate that he is ready to do the nation's business. Hiding under your desk is not the way to gain support.

pwillie.........if by "our party" do you mean the Republican Party, the party Brat says he belongs too? Cantor was not my guy (again, I ain't a Rep) by any stretch but I liked the guy...too bad he took his eye off the prize...his local voters...but I think he went out in a professional way and handled his defeat with a smile on his face and didn't blame, complain, or point fingers. How one handles defeat is a true test and I think Cantor did a good job taking it on the chin. I think he will be back in some shape or form. How one handles victory is also a test and Brat needs to "man up" and start with some positions on issues and begin to answer questions from the public and press...can't do that by reading statements and then running back indoors to get away from the podium and questions.

It is early. All the primaries won't be complete until after Sept 9.

Right now it would be all about the historical primary. I would think reinforcing your support base and attempting to strengthen your funding (which was pretty light) would be first, not exposing yourself to every mic. that is stuck in your face. Campaigns are expensive, his opponent will be funded by the DNC, can Brat expect support from the RNC? He can't run against Cantor any longer.

These came from Trammell's FaceBook page

Are you ready for the press deluge? And seriously, seconding the "have someone follow your opponent around with a camcorder at all times."

Just have someone follow that Teabagger around and record everything he says. They ALWAYS shoot themselves in the foot, sooner or later! And then, you're in!

Brat is doing what works for grass roots low campaign cash candidates
IN my district the Tea Party separatist congressman refuses [1]Debate. [2] Have print or Television media present at Town hall meetings

I believe the GOP would like for Brat to lose.

Then they can claim another loser, weak Tea Party candidate fails.

They would rather beat the Tea Party than Democrats.

I ain't in the GOP and actually would like to learn more about Brat...but if he keeps hiding under his desk, avoiding the press and not expressing his views on geopolitical issues, well hard to make up one's mind about him. He is a educated guy, college prof, and speaking to folks should be a piece of cake for him...the only thing I can figure is that he just not ready for prime time...or thinks he has it in the bag. With little dough, he should RUN to every free mic that he sees but instead he is AWOL. I did read his "Six Principles" and would like to hear more about them and him to flesh them out. But he is in his hole and ain't coming out I guess while his DEM opponent is pounding him.

blogdog3......evidently Brat got the message about hiding under his desk and came out last night on Fox News with Greta. Did a fair job I thought....had nice things to say about the national REP party and how he got pats on the back from the national leaders. But, again, he begged off of responding about national issues saying he is not sworn in yet and really couldn't respond.....like he hadn't given them enough thought. Even Greta commented to him that certainly he had some ideas about issues such as illegal immigration, Ukraine, and such. He pretty much begged off responding.....I just think the guy is not well read on geopolitical issues...hope he is ready for a spirited debate with his RMC opponent. I am beginning to believe that some of my undergrad geopolitical students are better read and informed than Brat. Hope I am wrong.

So,being well read constitutes being able to make the best decisions?....What happened to original thought? Why not listen to your constituents ? Maybe he is smarter than you...after all he is a Professor......LOL! It doesn't matter what he says...its what he does...

Just heard the the VA 7th District REP Comm met and instead of giving its rather large warchest to Brat for his campaign, the Cantor supporters gave it instead to the Nat Rep Comm. Strikes me as the Cantor supporters sticking a finger in Brat's eye, denying his cash strapped campaign the cash it needs to get out the vote. Also doesn't look good....sour grapes.

This would just prove my point. GOP would MUCH rather defeat the TEA Party (Blue Dog Republican[:D])candidate than the Democrat party.

Their PRIZE is quite a bit different than that of Conservative voters.

Well, their answer is a bit different than your premise. They (the 7th REP Comm) said that they wanted the dough to go to all the VA REP candidates, including Brat and the only way to do that was to give to the National group for redistribution. There is no question but Gillespie is going to have a tough race at the Gov level and is going to need every dime he can get to win, but it strikes me as sour grapes not giving Brat the dough...although Brat didn't raise a dime of it and has been very positive toward both the Nat Rep and the VA Rep Party. No question Brat will need every penny to beat his fellow Prof at RMC in the general election and this dough could have helped him big time.
