I have found and overwhelming amount of information on the topic on the net.
What is the easiest and fastest way to go about doing this in NV?
I have read it starts with the gun safety training course, the sheriff's offica application for the right to carry unconcealed, the feeeeeees and criminal history check.
How long does everything take if that is indeed what needs to be done? [8D]

It is an application for a blue card. Unless that means nothing to you as well. In the state of nevada at least you have of course the right to bear arms - In accordance with this right one must adhere to certain guidlines to first even carry on their person's a "handgun" which must stay in view of the public at all times. Think of how a cowboy carries a gun on his waist and how an FBI agent carries a gun in a concealed position on his body. After having your blue "unconcealed" card, you may apply for your CCW (carry and conceal weapons) permit.
I know all this just from research and common sense but, I was wondering if anyone knew the exact steps and whether or not it can be done 100% online?

A "blue card" in Clark County is only proof of registration of a handgun. It has absolutely nothing to do with carry of the firearm. No permit is required for open carry.
Clark County is the only county in Nevada that requires registration of handguns. "Blue Cards" do not exist in other parts of the State.
To answer your other questions, you must attend an approved training course in Nevada and qualify with each semi-auto handgun you wish to carry. Qualification with a revolver allows you to carry any revolver or derringer. You must also apply in person to the Sheriff in the county in which you reside. Nonresidents can apply to any county sheriff. In Clark County you would apply to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department which is headed by the Clark County Sheriff.
By the way, what branch were you enlisted in?
Thank you for clearing that up for me EOD Guy. Any idea what the total (ballpark guestimate) fees run for starting from scratch to getting a CCW?

See the link. It should answer your questions. I'm sure that there are also other classes available in the area. I'm not familiar with instructors in your area since I obtained my permit in Washoe County.

I was in the Army.
application for the right to carry unconcealed
If you have to apply for it and obtain permission to do it, it's not a right, but a privilege.
