Batman Massacre Affect on Gun Rights

ChaotechChaotech Member Posts: 19 ✭✭
So a 24 year old with no prior mental illness or legal issues other than a speeding ticket goes into a midnight premier of Batman and single handedly causes the largest mass shooting in US history.

Lets see... Under existing gun rights...
He was legally allowed to purchase the guns as opposed to a criminal whom might obtain them illegally.

He was able to carry multiple high capacity magazines so that the reign of fire continued for nearly 10 minutes.

...

I am pro-gun rights 110%, I wish I had been in the audience so I could have knelt down, popped up and dropped his * only to prove that gun permits and the right to bear arms is a good thing. Since that didn't happen I fear the worst, at a minimum laws preventing the purchase of high capacity magazines and the worst thing could be they strip us of our right to bear arms all together or make it nearly impossible to obtain a gun.

What is your take on the subject? What will be the consequences and reprocussions of this horrible event?

My guess is that it is manufactured scare into gun control, by some elite.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

I used to live in Co 17 years ago. That said, it was impossible to get a carry permit. The political hacks who kept their jobs made it impossible because their constituancy were preditory disadvantaged minorities would be not living to vote for them. I figured it was better to be judged by 12 thwn carried by 6.
Please insert any minority of any race creed or national origin, my personal favorite will always be lesbian Latvin midgets. I need a 48 star flag. there are 2 states i don't approve of.

Not saying there is any connection, but this happens right before the UN treaty?

Once the treaty has been amended i'm sure we'll see plenty of new additions related to gun law.

Just last week I was in Dicks sporting goods, for sale a .22. Semi rifle in black ar style with a simulated suppressor. Ok it is just a semi .22 but what is conveyed by the ar stock and rail mounts and suppressor? They said it was a big seller. Is this a low cost practice rifle for a larger AR rifle? I felt uneasy about it, what kind of person buys this?

I know in eccense it is a 22. Semi no diff than a 10-22 but the image conveyed of its intended use is different? Same with many a pump shotgun, it can be had to look like it belongs on mad max movie. This mind set isn't all limited to firearms either, tv ads show 70k dollar new cars , respectable brand name cars , drifting sideways under full throttle down public streets.
There is an image being conveyed that I am not comfortable with. I don't think we need gun control, we need more appearance control.

You have bought into the media hype of the "evil black gun" ~ just my opinion. After all, is a black corvette or Porshe any more dangererous than a white or red one?

News this AM said the loon also had some batman reference on his answering machine so realistically, Batman (dressed in black) brainwashed the demented loon and is totally to blame ~ that is if you want to transfer blame. [;)]

In the final analysis, it all boils down to presonal responsibility for your actions...not the instrument(s) used be it sword, knife, gun, bomb or motor vehicle. [^]

Holmes is to blame for what he did....not the objects he chose to use.

Exactly...look at Spain, outlawed handguns due to gang violence so the gangs are using very sharp swords and hacking their victims.

The hype is being played by the media for maximum bias against guns. The misinformation has been blatant in many reports the last three days.

Apparently the 'bug' applied to a local range for admission to membership and the owner of the range when attempting to call back felt the cold chill of 'anomalous applicant'.....this bug didn't operate in a vacuum....should have called somebody on him MOM and DAD.....the guy had obvious ISSUES.
While he would have passed a gun check, no previous crimes or mental health judicially ordered actions, he had to fill out forms and if he's in the gunshop somebody had to talk to him.....I've intercepted at least one bug who was nuts just by rudimentary conversation and keeping my eyes open.....if you see something, say something.
I'd rather be wrong than have some innocents hurt.

So Oat Willie, who did you report the bug(you encountered) to?

What agency? What was their reply?

Who should the range owner have reported him to?

Could this be a 'diversion' to draw attention away from the 'election' and coming 'UN treaty'? Could this have all been
govt manufactured? Seems like when it gets 'hot' in the pot
    something always happens.

    A.) The FFL Holder
    B.) The State Police
The individual in question was a very personable and well spoken lady who had epoxied dimes over her car door locks to keep "them" out.
I have to admit that my follow up was lacking as far as outcomes but she didn't get a gun from any of the local shops. Because she had exhibited peculiar behavior in those shops, talking about the famous "them"
I was more concerned with her getting help with her issues than feeling threatened by what she was saying.
I'm no shrink, but if a prospect makes me nervous, I won't sell a gun to them.

To blame gun rights because of what maniacal psychopaths do is beyond all logical reason, being that criminals do not obey any laws in the first place, although we know the real reasons involved here.

Yet these idiot politicians create more anti-Constitutional laws thinking that they will somehow protect the public and render these criminals unarmed and harmless as the criminals laugh at the politicians ridiculous attempt to disarm them and arm themselves.
It is completely stupid and useless to create un-Constitutional laws that do nothing but disarm law abiding citizens that simply want to protect themselves and their families, put food on the table, target shoot, etc and to punish law abiding citizens for the crimes of another is absolutely criminal.

The blame for this tragedy is not with guns, ammunition, magazines, manufacturers, conservative political parties, Christian churches, movies, video games, etc are not responsible.
Only this society and its monstrous product in the form of a psychopathic murderer is responsible for these cowardly murders..... Along with the court, police dept and mental health dept, someone knew of this psychopathic individual and how completely mentally disturbed this person really was despite what is said.
This has occurred before more often than not in the past with other psychopathic mass murderers even stating to some sort of professional that they were going to go on a rampage or something and no one did anything.

The answer ultimately comes down to having an anti-GOD, anti-Constitutional society that is responsible for this heinous atrocity due to their undermining of the family that GOD established for Christian upbringing and discipline whether people want to accept this or not it is a fact regardless of what the anti's say.
A society that disregards the Bible and the Constitution for abortion, h0m0sexuality, needle programs, condom programs in schools etc, and teaches that we came from monkeys is utterly stupid and promotes no responsibility other than humanistic animal behavior or worse, hence monsters.

I'm afraid that a score is being kept in the forefront of any crazies mind. As in the Tuscon shooter and this nut job it is a normal time frame for schizophrenia in young males, to emerge. He could have beeen living under a bridge as a troll, but he was high functioning. This is very hard to detect and treat. Since he had no episodes that put him on the law enforcement screens he slipt through and made his mark. The next nut job will try to get a higher body count.
The answer(?) no high capacity magazines, national mental health registry, have to pass a verbal test before buying a weapon, have THEM go house to house to search for pre ban rifles shotguns and pistols, and magzines.
It is NOT the weapon it is the intent of the operator of the device that is the problem.
I am tired of having to carefully watch what I say about my toys and lawfully using them at a range. As a woman it seems strange to other women that I own and use firearms at all. I have my own pistol range nearby and the only complaint I get is from the Township Constable when I shoot my cannon, his dogs get scared hide under his desk and piddle on the floor.
In closing it remains for us to educate our neighbors obey the law and go deeper into obscurity until the blue hats come.
To whoever posted the blue hat with the cool ventilation holes, too bad there was no head in it to put on a stick just outside of town.

No system can prevent a determined foe. No law. We you live in a country based on the principles of liberty and freedom, you must have the resolve to deal with those who commit horrendous crimes. You don't not stop crime by restricting the innocent. It's just that simple.
