Ryan Short, thank you thank you thank you. YOU have nailed it. That is the basis for ALL of our problems-turning our backs on who made us great! -GOD- Think about it guys, we were doing fine until we started allowing the libs to legislate God out of the American way of life. And now, what a mess! Judge Roy moore was a rare American patriot indeed, and should have been better backed, by "US". As usual we have ourselves to blame. That was our best opportunity in a long time to set things right on the constitution, and we hung him out to dry, which is what the libs were counting on, and we didn't let 'em down, did we? We never do.[V] NAILED IT Ryan.

    What a good thread.

Miss Brecht, glad you are here. Enjoyed your comments. Yes, some of us are fanatics because we realize one major point: Gun control is the last ditch, the last straw....If they, whoever they may be, can get our guns, all of our freedoms are next.

That really IS it at least for me. If the government and the liberals can take away our guns then they can take away anything they want from us.

When guns were invented everything changed. For the first time in the history of the world a frail woman had a chance to sucessfully defend herself and home. My dream is that one of the anti-gun nuts will need a gun for defense and be unable to have one because of their own actions.

I think the Consitution speaks for its self it bears no compromise. This is how we got to this point entertaining compromise, its time for that to stop.

I am not a fortune teller, and I can't see into the future, that much is true. I have, however seen the past, and many of its contents are clearly brought together one two principles.

    1. People who are armed have managed to overthrow foul governments (even in Biblical times) at an astounding percentage of the time.

    2. Disarmed people are exterminated for their weakness. This has been most common recently (within the last century or so, but even these existed in Biblical times).

We are armed, and even though we may not have the most latest equipment out there, reliance on the instrument is a fatal error.

I do not believe in evolution. The only part of nature I believe is that which states "Only the strong will survive." I have seen (as most of you have seen) people who have adapted to conditions that exist for them (learning how to walk again, how to "see" when blinded, how to use hands when one of them is crippled or missing, etc.) These adaptations are not genetic alterations that occur at the onset of injury or loss, they are skills learned by the person by trial and error.

I think our Freedom is long gone. Especially withe the patriot act which was introduced by a conservative government. I thing the current head of state has a foreign policy that will alienate a lot of other countries and their people. This will lead only to more terrorist attacks and furthere cuts of our freedom.
The point of owning a gun to overtrow the government seems weak. I can't see how your ar 15 even a fully auto will help you against the tank that will come for you.

becht: we all hope and assume it won't come to that, but if tanks are fighting against lawful Americans I think there will be tanks fighting for those lawful Americans, as well as the ones fighting against. If there ever does become all out civil war, I am hoping that a large segment of the military and othe government agencies would decided to fight with the citizens.

don't you watch Fox news everyonce and a while. Elementary school kids get expelled for drawing pictures of their techer with an arror though him. They investigate a possible terrorist thread. If they do that to a nine year old what will happen to a person owning guns and puplicly declares his diasapproval with the us government?

One MAJOR problem we have is most people just don't give a stuff. As long as they have their credit card and fanny pack and go to the mall.....or their food stamps and welfare checks and free government insurance.....and their daily dose of mind altering drugs(prozac, ect)These people are weak, they are unable to think for themselves because they have been brainwashed their whole life,a few end up seeing the light but they are a minority and will be persecuted. This up and coming generation is even dumber/ignorant/brainwashed.You will not recognize this country in 50 years,if you live that long.
    What to do???
It's good to come here and talk about all this stuff with like minded people but we are preaching to the choir. If you really went out in public and talked about some of this stuff and tried to persuede people, you would be branded a nutcase.Remember who you are dealing with....the General public.....and it ain't what it used to be folks. There are so many people(the poor, the rich) that are just.....what's the word.....apathetic.It's sad. It's the middle class that's pissed and we are getting smaller and smaller. The middle class bluecollar worker is being replaced by mexicans and other non Americans.Do you think they are going to fight for our rights? Our plight could get much worse but they would still be happy making four dollars an hour and living with four other families in a one bedroom apartment.

    What to do???

Get stinking filthy rich so the laws don't apply to you.

    Full blown revolution?
Never happen...couldn't organize it and/or keep it organized. No cell phones,no computers,no telephones....just CB's and Ham radios and walkie talkies, all of which would be jammed.
    We have rifles and shotguns.
    they have tanks and choppers.
    We have binoculars and telescopes.
    They have sattelites and radar.
We have basements and caves. They have bunker busters.
They have hardened bunkers that can withstand a direct hit from a nuclear weapon.
The list goes on and on.
Armed revolution??Not too likely. We already missed our chance....shouda happened during the Great Depression.

    Full blown anarchy.
    Much more likely.

    OK, counterpoint time:

WW2, Ghettos of Warsaw. A small band of Jews armed with 8 handguns managed to defeat the Nazi army while closing in on the city. They rearmed and resupplied the rest of them, and put the hurt on the Nazi army. At this time, the Nazis had come in with tanks and machine guns a plenty, but still did not win.

All starting out with merely 8 handguns....

If all that hi-tech stuff really made a big difference, how is it that our Armed Forces have relied on (and have had more success with)tips to finding people more than satellites and stuff like that? Why is Osama bin Laden still loose?

Point: Reliance on the weapons for them is as fatal an error as fear of their weapons are to us.

the jews did not win in the warsaw ghetto but they knew what their choices were and chose as some here have put it to die on feet rather than live/die on their knees.it was nevertheless heroic considering the whole of poland feel in a week and years after without any sympathy from the population the jews held out for over a month against vastly superior firepower.

i pray the day never comes that we must fight because there will be too few of us with the rest of the populace against us for upsetting the matrix for them (lousy choice of words). for us unlike the warsaw ghetto all we have to do is give up our freedoms and we will live under the protection of the homeland.[V]i dont expect many willing to fight.

and then will come the fight against whom?against 19 year olds sworn to uphold the constitution in the armed services, local law enforcement, against the feds?the news media will have a great time showing the survivors of the shield to the public and i'm sure that we know what power the pen has by now. i am not even going to touch the preemptive attack thing since i know you know what really bad reactions are. a revolution requires popular support the only thing i see is a desire for more gimmes from the politicians and a desperate search by the politicians for somewhere to steal ,borrow, r tax the money so they get sanother term in office.

folks apathy really is the law of the land, NIMBY is the what you hear when comes to helping the less fortunate and we need more protection from evil but no new taxes.from gunowners we hear well theyre not after the hunting rifles, only the bad black guns.from the groups that are supposed to protect our rights we hear compromise from the courts we hear twisted logic on what rights apply to states and what rights apply to individuals.

i think you have to accept the real truth. the revolution happenned in the sixties and the liberal/socialists won, we can see clearly that restrictive laws and redistribution of wealth has been going nonstop since then. borrowing is their downfall and at some point like with all the other countries that live on debt it will become too expensive to service and not enough businesses will be around to pay the taxes. too much of a percentage of people will work for the goverment.

it seems this is happening all over the world and the last thing a govt wants is an angry armed populace when the bills come due.i think we have a ways to go still but if cali is an example they want to borrow 15 billion dollars to consolidate debt but freely admit that they cant cover next years budget without an upturn in the economy. if they get an upturn will they stop spending money they dont have? if they get a downturn will they stop spending money they reallly dont have? i think not and i dont think any activist group would let them. they are not the only state , just the one closest to uncharted territory. but we have seen countries actually defaulting or asking for debt forgivness. if the russian default was any example people are expecting it to begin to happen anyway.

dont bother worrying about the revolution, its over, what happens next is really no longer even up to us. the future has been mortgaged and interest keeps piling up

And so 2gun the answer is what?Stick your head in the sand and give up?I do not understand.Besides of which if the U.S. is so mightly with its tech, what happened in Nam?Sure I know they had soviet stuff, yap yap yap.The enemy also fought with guns made from galavized pipes and nails. The made mines from booards and our own 12 ga, buckshot rounds. They used sticks when they had to,they captured weapons and munitions and turned them against us.Did the same in Korea....Drugs keep flowing into this country regardless of techkno krap don't they? I agree there WAS a revolution of sorts in the 60's.It hurt, wish we had seen it then, didn't .it is now time to pay the piper.First stop ,the ballot box.We can but try...to do less would be UNPATRIOTIC,Next,be prepared.Know where you can go,know others would like minds.Have food and protection at hand....and pray...

    2gun,

History has hidden something from you. Something it could not hide from me. Many WW2 vets, all with the same story on the account of the Warsaw Ghettos (and many of them being people who do not know each other) seem to tell a different tale on this event.

The Jews in Warsaw won, initially. The change in weather and the arrival of reinforcements is what finally got them. When reinforcements arrived, they were not so willing to believe that, by their mere presence, victory was assured.

    Revisionist history.... how deplorable.

there is tremendous bravery in fighting against overwhelming odds. the fact is that the germans were stunned that the jews they had almost completely wiped out , who were starved and worked to death daily for their german masters would even have the will to fight.

im not sure how many of us would have the same set of cojones they had but they knew that there would be no victory in the end, they wanted to die as men on their feet. if you want to call it a victory the first day i will concede but it was not a battle in a war it was the last gasp of proud people pushed against the wall and knowing noone would help them ever.

the victory that they never knew is the fact that anywhere you go in the world today there are still jews, proud jews of all different stripes of judaism attached to their faith and their homeland.that was what they fought for and though they died they had fought the germans longer than most of europes armies had.

i as a living jew today am a monument to them.i will defend me and mine

now to the other subject, yes by all means keep food and ammo at the ready for when things break down but dont think for one minute that the people are waiting for you to restore the days of yore. they like the benefits the govt gives and are willing to give up a lot to eat from the masters hand. they like that their food comes in packages and their hands dont have a callous. they like the office buildings and the holidays.

you dont need to stick your head in the sand, you know the deal and the price, most people dont and if there ever comes a time when they need a gun it will be too late. the time to pay the piper has not yet arrived people are still willing to give their freedom in exchange for security(i know dont say it)and most dont understand why we think the way we do.do what i do, take people shooting, let them get the idea that a gun will not kill people by itself, show them the thrill of the first time they hit the x ring. i'll take anyone who is interested to a range with me when i go and ive intruduuced about 2 dozen people who were scared stiff of guns to them, 4 own their own guns now and i hope more will follow.

that is the way we can win the war. the more people who shoot and enjoy it the more people who wont want their rights tampered with.
my parents are not gun owners, i am, and ive gotten my mother into target shooting with a .22.

    lets go win the war

The more I think about it the more I am starting to really llike the pro-gun group JPFO, Jews for the perservation of firearms ownership, inc. at www.jpfo.org. It appears to me for the items I have purchsed from them that they are doing a really good job of carrying on the gun rights fight. The have a type of approach that I haven't really seen elsewhere and they seem to do well on a shoestring budget. Andbody know about this group?

this is the weird thing about thinking. some people when they are a victim want everyone disarmed not realizing how foolish ,stupid, and shortsighted that approach is. some people decide that they ought to arm themselves and do. most of us are proactive and have reasoned out the why wait to be a victim before arming ourselves?

this makes sense to me and i have never been able to figure out why jews would want less guns based on the possibility of being a victim. but then again have you ever had an argument with a anti who felt rather than resort to violence when there is an armed intruder in the house we should find someplace to hide.

but you cant hide forever. dont you have an obligation to protect you and yours?

its only material possesions all replacable by insurance and we have police to protect us.

great what will you do while waiting for the police to come protect you? how are you going to call and not be found in your hiding spot?

i dont know but its better than having a dangerous gun around

(with disgust)i will protect my family and property and i wont be afraid of the intruder finding me because while im calling 911 there will be a gun in my hand.

people are dumb and thats the bottom line. they can think of all kinds of reasons why everything is not their responsibility and society cultivates this idea that a armed individual is dangerous to society and armed police are not dangerous because they are trained.so they are willing to give up the responsibility always forgetting the lessons of the past about being disarmed.

    2gun,

You're definitely on to something. Think about it. People are, day in and day out bombarded with antigun nonsense, having events in history hidden from them, having gun defense downplayed, and other people playing on their irrational fears so constantly, the populace is becoming brainwashed....

...until certain events trigger a rational response. The part that sucks about this is that they may not survive their awakening process. Events such as robbery, assault, rape, murder of a friend or family member, assault or maiming by an intimate partner; things like this that finally make them see the light, but by that time, it may be too late. But should they survive it, they become allies in our fight to be armed more times than not. It doesn't work the other way, however. People who are aware of the benefits of being armed can never go back. This enlightenment sticks with them forever, inextricably.

2gun, keep up the fight with us. I know I am not the authority of wisdom on this subject, but with what I have at my disposal, you are one of the more enlightened among us.

Could be we need to make them think.....

We could do an add campaign, to go something like this:
It's half past three in the morning,
Someone has just broken into your home,
Your wife has frantically dialed 911,
You know there will be about a 30 min wait,
How will you spend your time?

We, as gun owners, have delt with the answer to this question. You need to think about it. Rationally. Realistically.
