28 ga. Red Dot load

I came into about 4 lbs. of old (but still sealed) red Dot. If I recall it burns dirty but slower then Bullseye. Anyone know of a decent load for 28 ga. 3/4 oz. skeet load?

I have used red dot in many 12 gauge loads and even in the .45acp round. It is dirty.
I do NOT recommend it for use in the 28 gauge at all. There are too many variables in 28 gauge hulls to make it a safe powder to use.

Red Dot has a new powder and I am happy with it. Not dirty any more as far as Im concerned. Its a great powder.

Yes Red Dot is a fine powder, but way too fast burning to be used in 28 ga in any hull that i can find info on. Try a slower burning powder and use up the Red Dot in your 12 ga.

Thanks for the information, that's why I couldn't find any data for 28 ga.

To dirty for my .45's, and I only reload 12 ga. for my wife's Lady Gold semi-auto (don't want to clean that any more then needed). 700X, 2400, and Clays fit into what really works for me, but I thought I'd ask about the Red Dot since I've never used it.

Sounds like a trade item at the range.

An old Handloaders Digest pointed out that there were nine different grades of Red Dot, designated Red Dot 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and 90. Cannister Red Dot sold retail is no 30. The other eight were sold to OEM loaders. So that old 28 might be factory loaded with A Red Dot but that does not mean it could be done with YOUR Red Dot.
