480 ruger bullet mold

joesjoes Member Posts: 484 ✭✭✭
I bought a lee mold 90241 which they list for the 480 ruger @.476 but..... they don't fit! If I read correctly the proper bullet should be .475- Factory loads fit perfectly and the sized cases fit until I put a bullet into the case. My question is am I correct the mold is truely not for the 480 and which mold can I use?

you need to 'size' the bullets 1st. if your bore is .475" you should use a .476" sizer.

When loading cast bullets sized correctly to .001 to .002 larger than bore size you need to make sure the case mouth is champhered and belled at least a little to accept the bullet without shaving some lead. Nice roll crimp in the grove if you are shooting heavy loads will help a lot. Lee molds are not my favorite. Look in a Lyman loading book for lead bullet procedures.
