.338 bar loads

does anyone have any experience in powder/loads for a BAR in .338? I think there should be a difference between semi and bolt action loads.

I want to load with a 200 to 225 bullet. thanks.....

Welcome to the forum. I would get a good reloading book and start with that. As for differences between a semi and a bolt, the semi seems to like a little faster powders. I like to use factory loads to see how the rifle cycles and chronos. And then try find something a little milder with my handloads. While hunting I use factory.

I had, used and LOVED a .338 Winchester Magnum BAR while living in Alaska.

My FAVORITE load was a Hornaday 225 spire point over 78 grains of RE-19.

I used mixed cases with Winchester LR Mag primers.

It is a warm load but shot very well.

Several moose fell to that load.
