I use RL-17 in my son's 270 WSM with 130 SST's. Great velocity and accuracy. Magpro worked well too. Not as good velocity. But with both powders I could not get too published max loads.

I also use RL-17 in my 7mm SAUM, my hunting load is 139 SST with RL-17. My Suam actually likes heavy bullets with slower powders. But I can get 1.2 - 1.5 moa with the light stuff.

    Edit:
My 270 WSM is a Savage rifle, with all powders tested I could not get to publisher load data. So work up load data. I used 130 and 140 grain bullets in the 270 WSM with R-17, both shot very well. That rifle is a true 1/2 moa. My best shooting rifle, did I say it was my sons, left hand no less.

My 7mm Saum liked 160-162 grain bullets with slow powder best. I tried Hybrid 100V and Winchester 780 both did well. I have 200, 139gr SSTs' given to me so those are my deer rounds. With RL-17 and 139gr it will do 1.2-1.3 inch groups. Good enough for my needs right now. The 139's did like to be pushed top max, opened up. The heavier bullets in the Saum tightened up to what I felt was peak. The 270 shot well at all loads, but did tighten up as they were pushed harder.

I tried H4831 in my 270WSM, probably the worst accuracy. But still descent in this rifle. But also low velocity. Did not try in 7mm.
If you go with heavy bullets for your app. Slower powders may be better. I may try RL-19 or RL-22, the 2 powders above or even Magnum.
With the lighter stuff the 4350 range stuff works pretty good. My Saum liked Hunter as well, just didn't get the velocities of RL-17 for the same group size. Not sure if I help or just confused more.

    JKB57,

In my personal experience H1000 is about the best. I also use that in my 7 WSM over my RL22 and RL25. RL19 is a little too fast for heavier bullets in that case. RL17 is definitely too fast in spite of the fact that's what it's advertised for. If you are getting velocities equal to the slower powders using RL-17 you are using up a lot of the safety margin that powder has. Namely the way the retardant works in that powder.

I keep hearing really good things about H1000 if your pushing heavier bullets with the 300WSM. I know its been a good choice for the 300win mag with a 220gr SMK for years, but apparently does even better in the shorter fatter case.
