Need serious help...

I was taking off my scope ring and broke the head off the screw. See the pic...



How the hell am I gonna get this off now? The screw is loctited in and there is obviously nothing to grip it now.

you have to use an easy out.

Use a small punch and knock it through, if the head is completly gone. If not drill what's left of the head out. It might help if you can get the front mount off.

Remove the optic, then drill out what is left of the head, then use a hammer and punch to finish it off

Heat the loctited screw befor you try to turn it. Heat gun, mini propane torch, something small even a lighter if nothing else is available.

I went to the range, shot about 100 rounds, and it worked its way out.

Happy it came out on it's own. Just a suggestion to all who looked at this. This was learned while working on a combine final drive that had sheared off the bolt heads. Rather than try to drill on the broken end of the screw, drill from the other end which is still solid in the threads. It's quite possible the heat and vibration from drilling in the same direction as the threads will drive the screw out w/o using an extractor. That's why if at all possible, I use lefty bits to drill bolts for using extractors. That doesn't work quite as well because you're twisting against the threads rather than with them.
