Varget is a bit slow for .223 until you get to bullets 55 grains and heavier, IME. It is about ideal for most bullets in .308 and 7-30 Waters.

In actual burn rate, it is near 4895 or 4064. That's a very useful slot. Any application that calls for either of those IMR powders will likely be just as happy with Varget. Do use Varget tested data for the correct charge weight, of course.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

My favorite 22-250 load is with Varget. It also works great in my 308 loads as well as my .243. Great powder.

I load 35.8g of Varget with a Win LR primer and a 55g NBT bullet. It runs @ 3650 and I have been very happy with the results.

I usually load in the winter and shoot in both hot & cold weather. It is very consistent.
