Range on 50 cal CVA Optima Pro????

owen219owen219 Member Posts: 3,799
I have a 50 caliber CVA Optima Pro with a Burris 3X9 scope. What is the maximum effective range for this gun? Will it do 300 yards effectively, or 200, or what, using 150 grains of Pyrodex pellets?
What say??? Thanks![:)]

You are going to be virtually identical ballistically to the TC Omega.
I know a guy who killed a big buck at 208 yards with his Omega.
    He was using the 240XTP.
That range is pushing the envelope for a muzzleloader, the bullet really starts dropping fast after 150 yards.

CVA Ballistics chart they provide with POWERBELT Saboted Bullets shows that with a 28 inch Barrel, and 150 grains of pellets (type unspecified), Zeroed at 150 Yards - between 5 and seven inches drop at 200 yards, and then between 15 and 20 inches drop at 250 yards.

I will be limiting my shots to 150 yards for Deer, and 200 for Elk.

[EDIT] The data they provided was for bullet weights between 223 Grains and 348 Grains.
