I am hoping to get a range report on that soon(maybe tomorrow) to see if the changes from the recall have any ill or positive effects.

I am looking at the xds. Not much of a flock fan. Kimber probably out of my price range
Sorry to hear that.

If the 1911 is not to your liking, I really like the XDS. I perfer it to the G36.
Bottom line, you need to try and shoot a few different ones. The XDS fits my hand well, the G36 does not.
May have to break out one of the Kimber Ultras...
But, UNTIL I do... I'll survive with my trusty ol'RIA 1911 Officer...

My research shows the 45 acp is a very poor choice for any platform which utilizes a bbl length of less than 4.25 inches (Commander length) because you lose A LOT of velocity and the 45 is a low velocity cartridge to start with. With bbl in the 3.3 to 3.5 inch lengths many loads will not even break the 700 fps. To each his own, but from a ballistic standpoint it is a BIG mistake to make a handgun with less than a 4.25 inch bbl in a 45 acp.[:(]
I've carried a Commander sized 1911 for years, I put at least 50 rounds a month through it every month without problems. If it didn't work every time, I wouldn't carry it.

I think this is really not a huge deal as far as personal defense goes. If you want it for carrying in the woods where there are bear as well, it is probably more of an issue.

Never a problem and accurate.
