Im goin to STCW on the 6th. Finally! The company is paying for the class, the hotel, the meals, milage(51 cent a mile), the USCG fees to upgrade MMC and they pay my daily wage while there.

I do not intend to bring up bad memories but I am curious and I think alot of others on here are also.

What did the autopsy find out happened to your friend? It is a shame for that to happen at his young age.

I am sorry for your loss.

Did you get the email I sent you? I was wondering if you had sent the knife yet (if so, I might need to start shaking down a few of my co-workers to see who "borrowed" it)
    Thanks, Chorkie

.22s are the most dangerest guns on this planet. As a paramedic you should know this, or you've not picked up very many .22 gun shots.Shoot em in the thigh and the bullet ends up lodged up by the heart, after passing through the intestines. Most tramma hospitals ask what cal. the paitent was shot with, so the low resedent Docs, get stuck with the .22s. Lots of trouble, lots of time.
A friend of mine got shot in the right upper arm and died cause the bullet ended up in his heart. OH BTW I carried a 9 shot .22 in Nam as a personal weapon. Saved my life once. The biger the cal. the bigger the noise and recoil. Not that it gives you or anyone a bigger
Dic- , except in their head. I personaly think if i had to be shot by any gun please make it a 9mm. My chance of servival would be greater then a .22[}:)][}:)]

Of course I'm out of my mind. It's dark and scary in there.

I know you were just kidding around, but that recipe you posted for beef stew with the rosemary , is getting tried out at my place tomorrow with venison stew meat. Looks like an outstanding one. (Embarrassing to admit I was looking at that carwreck)

Kev, Did you start your job yet????? I use to be a paramedic for a private ambulance company back in the 70's and 80's. I gave it up when I started to do pediatric runs. I couldn't take seeing that many kids die. The night mares were the worst.Good luck and I wish you well. Oakie

Kev, here is something you may be interested in. I am speaking as an old Paramedic with 14 years on the ambulance.

I went back to the VoTech school and got a CDL. If you can stand being away from home for 8 days, and then home for 2, it is a pretty good job.
    I made $61K last year.
I am a team driver. Average pay for a solo driver just starting, $40K.

I too have a gimped out knee, broke the distal femur in a logging accident, the emergency surgery went bad, after 14 months of hell, and I went to A DIFFERENT DOCTOR and got total knee replacement. Damn knee hurts all the time but I just ignore it and drive my truck.
