What affliction must this seller suffer from?

Locally, or, not too far away, I found this listing:

quote:Putting up my Colt Sporter Match HBAR model R6601. I bought this new in 1991 and have never fired a round through it. I did have the Bolt Carrier Group (BCG) NP3 finished by ROBAR. I have never shot this thing in the 21 years that I have owned it. I have the Original box with Poly bag dated May of 1991 on it, a Colt magazine, sling and cleaning rods. Asking price is $8000 firm for this fine piece of history. Haven't needed to sell it in 21 years, don't need to sell today or tomorrow.

He has a picture of what he's selling --- but, my God, where must a number like 8K come from? In AZ, there are a lot of folks that have NO comprehension, with regards to BASIC economics. This is even true for small businesses, as well. You walk into a store, and all of their packaging is turning yellow --- becoming less and less translucent --- and I wonder, "what is so darn complicated about the concept of PRICE?

Sorry, rant over. [:D]

And, I'm sure that plenty of folks have the rifle listed in all kinds of different ways.

The rifle has value, especially to those who live in NY, I'd suppose?

Y'all found any OUTRAGEOUS ads, online, or otherwise?

Please post, if you have... [:)]

Oh, I could care less about greed. I'm totally fine with greed. All I want is for people to understand the market before they set their price.

It seems as though people just pull a price out of their...

It's pervasive, here, in AZ, unfortunately.

As far as I'm concerned, get all you can, right now. But, understand what's going on, so you don't wind up with zilch. [;)]

Who cares? The guy wants top dollar, if he doesn't get it, he doesn't care.

What is so hard to understand about that?

    Good for him.

Yep, I think you got it all figured out there, Merc. Here, let me paraphrase how I feel:

To profit, in any way, should be illegal, and is IMMORAL. Those who make any type of profit, should go to jail, and NOT pass "Go".

One should NOT be able to own property, and for that matter, all that is produced by the country, should be controlled by a central-planning agency.

The government should set all prices, and the free market should be abolished.

It is immoral, and should be illegal, to own a better home than your neighbor, any family member, OR ME, for that matter.

Everybody should make the same wage, even if they don't deserve a lung full of oxygen.

Lastly, absolutely NO "top-dollar" for ANYTHING!

You guys can donate all of the stuff you're not supposed to have, to me. [:D]
