In a ruger No.1 what would be your big bore caliber choice and why?

Be advised that the #1 in 458 has killer recoil. A real teeth rattler.

They were (or are) offered in 458 Lott which is the 458 Winchester lengthened by a bit to give it more oomph. This gun can still chamber and fire 458 W.

when the .45-70 is loaded up to the max it's a handful too.
The No. 1 isn't that heavy of a rifle, and it's relatively short,

Or maybe a 416 or ...
I want one in 458 next just because it is one badazz round.
Are you familiar with how to "free float" a No. 1 barrel?
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Yes, the 45/70 can be loaded up. But the 458 can also be loaded down. And the 45/70 still falls short of the 458 at the top end.
I do love the #1.
