Intelligence officials' early alarms about possible pandemic went unheeded

WE will pay for this literally. It will be hard to erase the memory of this failure, like it or not.

Taken together, the reports and warnings painted an early picture of a virus that showed the characteristics of a globe-encircling pandemic that could require governments to take swift actions to contain it. But despite that constant flow of reporting, Trump continued publicly and privately to play down the threat the virus posed to Americans. Lawmakers, too, did not grapple with the virus in earnest until this month, as officials scrambled to keep citizens in their homes and hospitals braced for a surge in patients suffering from covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

More noise from the swamp. It's always Trump's fault. Thank God President Trump instead of Hilary. She would only see this as a way to stuff her pockets.

President Trump waited a whole month too long to do what he did in March. Noise from the swamp irregardless.

Considering the amount of resistance and derision that he encountered when he imposed the travel ban how much else do you think he could have accomplished? In the current political atmosphere it took the virus rising to a full blown crisis to negate petty political rivalry and mobilise the fight against the pandemic. Will the current efforts be effective? To early to say. The U.S. has some concentrations of virus cases in heavily populated areas that probably were infected before we were even aware of the virus. If Trump had been able to take action a month earlier it probably wouldn't have had much effect in preventing our current problems. Bob

With people dying now here with the Wuhan virus then closing the doors for entry into the country a month earlier would have help in my opinion and making all U.S.citizens flying in to be Isolated. Trump was warned the seriousness of this situation, and he chose to ignore it.The Buck stops at his desk.
Taking temps at airports was ineffective period. Don't think The Democrats will not use this information before the election. In fact Bernie already has. I am being the devils advocate here,Trump must realize it's an up hill battle for him now.

    Hindsight is always 20/20.

The Trump White House banned travel to the US from China by non citizens/residents on 31 January.  He was criticized for it as xenophobic by the same people who are now saying he waited too long to take action.  Travel bans have been implemented consistently as hot-spots sprang up around the globe.

Those of us who live in the real world understand that actions have consequences and running to an over-protective mode too early can potentially do more harm that good.

It is an obvious fact that if 100% of firearms in the US of A were banned and confiscated, we would not have any firearm related murders.  We choose to not go to this extreme because the cost to individual liberty and freedom outweighs the benefit of a few lives saved.

Likewise when combating an virus that is new and unknown.  We can error on the side of liberty and economy quashing restrictions; we can error on the side of 'if only one life is saved', or we can take a rational approach and deal with the growth as it occurs.

We were on the rational path for the past couple of months.  I fear that we are switching to the liberty and economy quashing restrictions approach because of media manipulation of a virus they see as a means to remove Trump in November.

All states that have ordered quarantine of their once free citizens have Democrat Governors.  Is this coincidence?  Are we to believe that GOP governors just do not care?

Or, is there a dictate put out by the DNC to error on the side of economic destruction in the name of saving just one life in order to alter the election results in November?

Conspiracy theories can work any number of ways.  A country of 330 million with 25,000 documented cases of infection and 250-odd deaths lurching towards economic suicide seems to be a ridiculous and stupid over-reaction.  Refusing to acknowledge the possibility of a political agenda is refusing to acknowledge the political environment the left has created over the past 3-1/2 years.

Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.

Yep you said it, non-citizens were banned but all the U.S.citizens who showed no high temps were allowed in with no isolation which is/was a big mistake! I can't believe you people who understand better than me are so ignorant when it comes to the cause of pandemic! The incubation period and if you can transmit the virus with no symptoms is the key and any rational person would know it. There is no excuse for this action. They knew this in the end January not in March. That is 30 days lost that would have made a difference. It's no conspiracy theory. It's a fact.

Just keep giving those slant eyes every chance you can to destroy the US of A.
