Loading Buckshot-Will This Work?

I was reading where some guys were taking factory birdshot shells, cutting the crimp and dumping the birdshot and dropping 8 or 9  00 buckshot in and roll crimping the shell.  Good or bad idea?

How close does the buckshot come to the original charge weight of shot?

From what I understand 8  00B weigh about an ounce and 9 about 1  1/4 ounce.

I would think that if the weight was real close, it would be safe enough. My concern would be going from a star to a roll crimp. When reloading plastic hulls, the star crimp die needs to match the folds in the shell, 6 or 8, and rotates to make the crimp tight. I would think that a star crimp would give the plastic some memory, and might not work that well on a roll crimp.
