Are there any problems cleaning with stainless steel pins?  I haven't heard of this method.  I watched a youtube video and the poster didnt mention any problems.  Looked pretty involved compared to my dry media cleaning.

Tumbling Procedure with Water and Stainless Steel Media

    1. Setting up the Thumler’s Tumbler takes about 10 minutes. It comes mostly assembled, so no engineering skills are required, but you should read the instructions. There isn’t a lot to do, but there are a few important set-up details you shouldn’t overlook. (This only occurs once after initial purchase)

Lemi-Shine Brass Cleaning2. Pour the media in the tumbler, add brass, add 1 gallon of water, a small amount of liquid soap and a little bit of Lemi-Shine. Watch Cory’s video below for the amounts of soap and Lemi-Shine.

Do you have to use Lemi-Shine? Cory says: “Not necessarily. Lemi-Shine is the key to get your brass shiny. If you don’t care too much about the shine, then no. It can also help soften the water, which allows the soap to work a little better.”

How much brass should you add? Cory suggests putting about two pounds of brass in the Thumbler’s Tumbler, which has a 15-lb overall capacity (including water). Here is how that works out for different cartridge types (small to large).

I've been using stainless steel pins since they came out (10 years+) without problems and I don't see any drawbacks. In fact, all I see are pluses.

This is about as simple as it gets. Letting your brass tumble for hours in corn cobs is a waste, especially when it doesn't clean your primer pockets. Cleaning corn cob or walnut media out of cases and pockets is just as maddening. The dust and additives required to clean cases with tumblers is worse than the pins by a long shot. The tumbler media has to be replaced frequently with continued use, pins don't.

If you object to the pins, use another shape.

    Best.

I just started using the stainless pin method. The only drawback is if you try to clean different size cases together(Don't do it) such as 223 and 45ACP.The cases will jam together with the pins wedging them.If you clean all the same caliber cases it works better than anything I have ever used.

i do it with good success.  i went to local store and bought a plastic colander and pan.  i do the brass in my tumbler with the lemi shine and about a tablespoon of dawn soap.  when finished pour the liquid, pins and brass thru the colander into the dish pan.  shake the colander several times over the dish pan and it will separate the brass from the pins.  i then put the pins to dry in a sunny place and pour the brass onto a towel and leave in the sun.  job over.  really easy once you develop your method.

While It is some-what more time consuming after the cleaning cycle is over then doing dry media tumbling or vibrating, more this time means much cleaner and looking like brand new brass . IMHO it's time and effort well worth doing. Been doing S/S pin cleaning for a number of years now and would never go back to dry media , the brass no matter how bad looking comes out in superior condition .
I did a test of really old, almost black, range pick up brass, between dry and wet cleaning, the dry was tumbled for twice as long as the wet, the wet came out like new, the dry looked dingy and not useable for quality reloading .
Did I mention I like shiny brass :>)

So will this pin method work with a vibratory cleaner like this: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881435822. or does it need to be the rotary drum type?
