Older Remington 22 model help

Looking for help finding a model on an older Remington 22. Older gentleman wanting to buy one like he had as a kid. Only detail that could help find the model is it had a side magazine release button and he had it roughly 60 years ago. Before I start googling all various models I figured someone here would know.

Any ideas?

I don't recall any 22s other than winchester that used a side button magazine release.

maybe chec out solme of the winchester models, and see if he recognizes any.

Winchester Model 69, two variants 69 and 69A. 355,000 produced 1935 - 1963. I agree with Geri's comment.

The only Remington with a side release button, that I know of, is the Model 597.

Just a suggestion- rimfirecentral.com has a Remington section, I mainly hang out in the Mossberg section, but if the Remington folks are like the Mossies, if it existed, someone there will know it.

I'm guessing you guys are right, was probably a Winchester. He didn't really seem to know, he has boughten several modern guns from me but just mentioned this when he was in last, said he wanted to get one like that again. He said it was a Remington but when I asked him if he knew the model and he didn't know, so like I said, he wasn't being overly definitive.
