Colt .308 Ammo Price
Hey guys, I'm hoping this is the right area to ask about this, if not I apologize in advance. I have about 400 rounds of Colt .308 168gr FMJ BT that's Zinc plated, I'm trying to figure out how much it's worth, unfortunately with the ammo shortage it's sold out everywhere and because it's sold out the websites I've looked at don't actually have any prices listed. As mentioned with the ammo shortage I'm sure it's worth a bit more than I paid for it, which if I remember correctly was about $12-15 per 20 round box. I'm looking to sell it because I lost my job last week and I'm in desperate need of some hard currency but since I don't know what it's worth I figured this might be a good place to get a rough idea of what it's worth as I don't want to lowball myself. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated.

What part is zinc plated? I never heard as such. As far as price, you can look at "completed" auctions on GB. Off hand I'd say $1.25-$1.50/round.
I believe that the ammo in the blue box is what he is talking about:
Of course, Colt doesn't make ammo, they just licensed the product. Looks to me like steel cases. If that's what they are, that could reduce the market for his ammo as it is not reloadable.

Sorry guys I didn't go into enough detail, exactly what Neal said, it's not actually produced by Colt it's just licensed, it's made in Russia, I attached a picture of the ammo. I actually looked up the completed auctions before I posted the question, sorry for not clarifying that, unfortunately all of the completed auctions ended without any bids, so I wasn't sure if that was a good price to go off of since all of the auctions ended without any bids. I originally bought 750 rounds of it for plinking with my Rem 700 XCR Tactical LR, M1A, FAL, and PTR91 out of the 350 rounds I fired I didn't have any misfires, jams, etc. So it's pretty solid ammo.
Oh, if it's steel cased, prolly a buck apiece.
That's kinda what I was guessing, around $1-1.25, but I figured it didn't hurt to ask to see what you guys thought.
List 5 boxes on GB and you will find out what it is worth fairly quickly.
Sorry about you losing your job. It pays to have a reserve to fall back on until you are once again gainfully employed.
Silver Bear with a cute "Prancing Pony" logo?
Yeah, it was very unexpected, I had actually just paid off several thousand dollars in bills which was a majority of my rainy day fund, I felt it was prudent to pay down the good ole credit cards as much as possible to minimize the amount I'm paying in interest. I have enough for a couple months of rent, bills, etc. but I'm trying to built a bit of a cushion with covid going on I don't know how long it'll be until I can find a new job, and as much as I hate selling ammo having a roof over my head is a little more important at this point lol.
Pretty much lol. Like I said, for what it is I've never had a single issue with it so I really can't complain.
russian made for colt
