Been reloading .38 for years. all of a sudden one batch is very tight fitting in gun chamber. What could cause this? Cleaned everything, Not just one shell, all of them. Does it mean the die is worn out?
Just some quick thoughts: worn sizing die, bullet change/ larger diameter, minute obstruction in the cylinder. A bullet change is most likely. Interesting problem. Let us know the cause.
Edit; i agree with Anti Kue.
Was loading cast lead, changed brands, no difference.
Size a shell (don't load a bullet) and try it in the chamber. If the shell after sizing fits then check the seating depth and crimping of the bullet (too deep, not deep enough/ too much crimp) Might be a slight bulge where the bullet is crimped.
Sized a shell , fits great. Expander die is where Im creating a problem. Worked with it for two hours and got frosted. Ordered a new set of Lee Carbide dies for $32. Hope problem solved.
