28 years and not one tricker treater. I think I’m doing something right.

We moved out here in the sticks about 9 years ago. The last year we lived in town, we had over 300 kids stop by !!! My Bride was a school teacher for over 30 years so we had her kids, the kids from the school where she taught, students who were adults now and brought their kids.... We used to enjoy that. 😀

Some years ago I actually had several kids make it 1/2 way in our long, curved driveway. I was outside with a light on and could hear them walking on the gravel until their steps got slower & slower. Then one declared that it was too dark & scary. Never saw them & the last I heard was them running on the gravel.

My Uncle lives in a popular tricker or treater destination... He's 82 and gets me to man the door. He makes dinner, my dad watches the news and we just have a grand time. We don't get trick or treaters in our neighborhood anymore 🥴

I've been here in scenic Lizton, IN for 40 years and never have had a trick or treater. I know I'm not movie star quality but didn't think I ever looked that bad. Back in the '70's when I lived in the suburbs of Indy I would give out beer to the moms & dads. I knew most of the neighbors and yes, I had candy for the kids. Nothing lasts forever.

It's too late for me, save yourself.

Nope! Not a single trick or treater here once again for the 8th Halloween in a row at my place. Might have something to do with not having any outside lights on. 😁

Actually, a kid would have to travel a mile off the pavement and climb up the very steep 1\10 mile long driveway to find my house where the closest neighbor around here is 1\2 mile away. I swear that if a young goblin were to make the trek to my door, I would fill his bag to overflowing with the best chocolates! Maybe I should put an ad in the paper next year stating what I just said!

Same thing here except going on almost 40 years. Being in a rural area far off the road with no lights on the driveway no one even sees our house from the road.

We moved in to thecountry well out side the city lol

    The day we married

Never had a kid stop by

We Use to go into town to my parents house and take our rugrats and also lots of candy to pass out .

After my parents passed on of course the tradition stopped but enjoyed the kids

It reminded me of when I was just a young lady and halloween was a great time to be a kid

The great pumpkin/ Charley Brown and the wizard of Oz always a staple of the season

My wife went into town last night to go with our younget son and D.I.L. and grandkid they had him dressed as ET.

But we're rained out but made it long enought to still have fun for the little fellow

had a couple dozen at most then about a 1/2 hour into it the sky opened up an down came the rain, I just let the kids grab as big a handful as they can take out of the bowl. along with what the granddaughter got, I now have 3 big bowls on the kitchen table. wife will take one to work, she says the maintenance men eat it by the handful. I will take one to the hunting cabin, and grandkids allready have their bowl seperated with their favorites..............

I didn't keep count, but it was the busiest TorT night here in quite a while. Had several bunches of high school age kids come by, and all of them were elaborately costumed, polite, and happy. Not a thug among 'em. Refreshing, that.

We bought one large bag of candy from Costco (and a large bag of anything from Costco is a LARGE BAG) Went through about half of it, and by 7 pm or so, I was handing it out in hands full instead of single pieces. Didn't sample a single piece of it last night, and now have more than I can possibly eat in a year.

    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

The closest I came to having a trick or treat visitor was when the renter came by to pay the second 1/2 of his rent and commented he had to go take his kids out for T or T. I tried to give him some stuff to take home for a starter but he refused.

No humanoid in it's right mind would bypass the 'Beware of Dog, No Trespassing, Surveillance Cameras in Use, and we don't dial 911' signs nailed up along the driveway. ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT

I've lived here 42 years and had maybe 1/2 dozen of the closest neighbor's kids show up in all that time.

In twenty years of living here we have had maybe 3 or 4 trick or treaters.

Not a one here. The closed gate works.

Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche

we had a whopping 4 kids. Heck, I don't even know where they came from. Living out in the sticks, we don't get many visitors

  • asopasop Member Posts: 8,977 ✭✭✭✭

At first glance I thought maybe the wife may have left town😮

  • tajjntajjn Member Posts: 1,065 ✭✭✭

At a ruff guess I'd say we had a little over 100 kids since I only had 10 pieces of candy left out of 165 to start with
