peedadpeedad Member Posts: 230 ✭✭

When the bolt is on FIRED position, how long would the firing pin be sticking out past the face of the bolt? Thx

If the bolt is cocked the firing pin shouldn’t be sticking out past the face of the bolt.

    Max spec is .065.

Wondering why you ask? (are you having problem with erratic mis-fires maybe?)

Is your Mauser a original or a custom build????

Also when re-assembling a Mauser 98 bolt shroud on some you can stop 1 turn short when screwing on the shroud and the firing pin will not protrude the end of the bolt when trigger is pulled and all will seem normal.

Also if yours protrudes .050 and you get a erratic misfire/snap you need to check the headspace as being correct. Too much headspace WILL RESULT in erratic misfires.

I see in your post earlier where you were wrestling with taking the bolt apart.

Did the gun operate normally before you started tinkering with it?

You might start a post in the general discussion section because this is going to time out (end) at 10 posts in the ask the experts section.
