My tool box holds 2 dwell meters a couple of timing lights ,a few point files and at least one ignition system tester . There are at least 3 sets of new old stock points for a gm .
Once upon a time put a 57 Corvette engine three/two's in my 55 Chevy with meat hook on mess hall bldg. in Army. Dropped distributor in 180 degrees in reverse. Does not work too well that way. ----------------------Ray
I changed out my share and filed down many a set . and also advanced timing ( left my distributor just tight enough I could pull push it to get a few degrees more ) if going to be racing in town thet night
still have several duel point one with a tach drive in the garage before I switched to electronic distributors I was using a accell duel point distributors that had several sets of bearings on the shaft and even a bearing at the top of the shaft to help keep i in line ( over kill buy it worked ) still have it maybe two . and the big yellow accell super coils still have two 69 camauro's also
making a 1.65 a hour those parts ate my Meger pay check up fast I gave up a lot of dates to buy parts for my cars ( looking back maybe not the best choice but i dearly loved cars and racing
oh , I still have all the test and tune equipment most would have no idea what it is much less how to use it 😮

Hey, my '69 Firebird conv't has points.
I just came across all my old "brake pad changing tools". And a "Mallory" (sp.?) ignition system😜

Ahh, the old days of match book and a pocket knife to get it running again...
My old '72 chevy has a Mallory distributer in it. But is has 250,000 miles on it.

What about the condenser. And for the love of god don't drop the condenser screw down inside the distributor.
And don't pick up a condenser that has been laying around a bunch of pranksters.
57 Chevys-The best ever.
Just put a curl in the wire, charge it up, set it on the bench and invariably someone will pick it up and straighten the wire.
The grandkids brag about their phone and computer skills, but when I ask can you put in a set of points and condenser they just stare at me.

Ford 85 horse flat head V-8's with the distributer in the front were a bear!
