ROCKFORD - The Rock River Valley Blood Center has high expectations for their next Mobile Blood Drive Event. On Wednesday they will hold a joint effort with Lyfe Dispensary for the first ever Bleed for Weed, being held at their location at 6774 Troy Drive in Rockford. The first 50 donors who roll up to the dispensary between Noon and 6 PM will receive a free commemorative t-shirt. Well, I guess that is a novel approach, can't say I support it though….
You can bet the potheads will circle the bus as long as there is still weed available.
One of the dumbest things I've ever heard of.

Unbelievable. One of my buddies made a visit to Illinois and brought back some of the Illinois Legal stuff. It was too strong for me. I hadn't had any in 10 years.
When they say "It ain't the stuff your grandpa smoked at Woodstock" they aren't kidding. Heck, the stuff is legal now in most states. It was just made legal, 90 miles away from here at the Cherokee Reservation in western NC, so that, anybody can drive up there and buy all they want.
I see people like that all over Colorado. It's difficult not to stop, get out of the car, and punch them in the neck.

I was going in a auto parts store a few weeks ago and there was the oder that someone had stirred up a skunk.Very strong.A young lady came from the other side of the parking lot and told me someone was smoking weed around the corner and that was the skunk oder.
I believe a weed user it is still forbidden to purchase a firearm. But maybe they have changed it; it is hard to stay current on all the laws.
I'd dearly love to hear the screams if they offered 10 rounds of free ammo for a blood donation. A giveaway of something legal is just that.
Yes, it is still illegal since it is still FEDERALLY regulated and that is a federal form. There's even now a disclaimer on the 4473 stating that even it is legal in your state, if it is illegal federally, then you can't purchase a firearm. Lying on that form is a felony as to make any further purchases illegal too.
So I imagine who ever gets someone’s blood from this blood drive will get a free buzz?
Never mind…
There are studies out there that have concluded use of marijuana is far worse than previously reported. The THC levels in grass now is way higher than it was before legalization overall. As with most things, we will really see the actual effects as time goes one. There also has been a spike in ER visits of children consuming their parent's edibles.
You mentioned domestic disturbance calls related to pot… well I intervened in situations where parents got too high and forgot to feed their babies at necessary times… Young children going to neighbors looking for food because Mom and Pop forgot to buy food, but managed to have plenty of grass around.. But also similar situations with alcohol too. And I was involved in domestic situations where Pot was involved. It was usually because one party or the other smoked the stash up or one of the parties had a negative reaction to product they had consumed.
There are ill effects tied to the continuous use of both Marijuana and Alcohol and especially when overuse or abuse are involved. I worked my entire career dealing with the ills of society. Started out as a social worker, family therapist, Director of a residential treatment facility for delinquent youths, and over 30 years in court services.
I figure this thread will soon turn into the pro and anti Marijuana folks piping in about their experiences and beliefs. So it will not likely last too long from here..
I will end this with just look around at all the folks heading in the dispensaries to buy their legal grass. I figure most of them are just light users and while I am not interested in using it myself I have no issue with them doing what they want. But just like alcohol, there is also a segment of them that end up abusing and over using.
The rest of us are on the hook for their bad mistakes. More car accident, more social ills etc…. I guess in 10 years of so, we will see how and if the legalization of Pot made any changes in our society. We already have a pretty good handle on the ill effects with alcohol..
RANT OFF…
Thank you, I enjoy a good debate……..
I did fail to mention, I lived and worked in Illinois for over 50 years. I have never seen Illinois make any decision that was not based on how much tax can we collect on this. !!! At least that was my experience working in a government position most of my career….
I have to side with William on this issue . My experience working in the psychology field bears out much of what he says .
Addiction is just Addiction you just need to pick your medium. It doesn’t matter what medium you choose it is about the individual and their choices from my experience.
I don't see bacon on that list. Don
Did someone mention ammo for blood? What caliber?
Our Masonic Lodge gives out T-Shirts & insulated cups, etc. at our blood drives.
Seen too many folks whose brain was fried from chronic longterm abuse of pot to ever believe it is harmless. Additionally the effects on someone with most any mental health issues were usually detrimental .
