may be in jail by morning, neighbor two houses up had a tremendous fireworks display tonight, went up an explained their aerial pyrotechnics ( illegal in Idaho ) while very nice, we really stirring up our foals and yearlings. Was really nice about it and they seemed at the time to understand.

However, after about 45 minutes, it began again and put at least one yearling into panels causing a laceration, I was not nice on my next visit and wiped, I’m guessing several hundred dollars worth of aerial pyrotechnics off their trailer and amidst the explosions going off against me and behind me, I offered for them to go to the gravel with me, but being in their 40’s I couldn’t get any takers to brace the old man, they said they were going to call the sheriff on me and I said get with the program. You can take your best shot and whipping an old man’s * or call the law, but someone is going to pay a vet bill and possibly be responsible for your own Dr bill. I didn’t have any takers, I was seriously pissed and primed to do * harm that they weren’t accustomed to.

I don’t pass “the point “ very often as I was definitely a heathen youth, but this bunch pushed me and they could not believe that someone wasn’t intimidated by being out numbered, oh the follies of youth.

Rant over but but even after getting my colts settled down, my BP I’m sure is redline.

    Sorry to hear

Some people are just inconsiderate, not the word I would use, but it's a family forum

I think you did the right thing i will wager

i and many more would have done the same thing and left the law out of it .

, but in today's world doing a video of the fireworks and calling the sheriff explain the situation and let them hande it. May have been the correct move

And possibly kept the problem from geting to violent or worse .

You did your best to be nice even explain The reason why you were asking and they still went ahead.

have you know them very long or had any other interactions in the past .

I doubt they call the sherif and report you for interrupting a illegal fireworks outing

And wil wager JMHO you may neèd to to file a complaint to get a chance at any vet bill covered or at least noted in case of retaliation

I also Hope your yearling is OK

It takes a lot to push my go button also the older I have got,

but sometimes, sadly, that's what is needed

Sorry to hear about the yearling. We have had the same problem here with fireworks.

I am more concerned about a forest fire as many years it has been bone dry. Our house is in a clearing of my 50 acres and if a fire started it would not be saved with no water nearby.

I'd bust loose with some bail money if it came to that, Dave. I think you did the right thing and we'd have a lot fewer problems in society if we had more folks willing to step up like you did. Hope your foal heals up and isn't permanently traumatized.

There is rectal cavity that lives a few houses down from us and they have what sounds like world war three in their yard at every opportunity, aside from the damn noise, I'm afraid that they will set my house or someone else's house on fire. We live in a heavily wooded neighborhood and I'm astonished that it hasn't happened yet.

Some people just have no idea how to live around other humans and couldn't care less what impact their stupid choices have on those who live around them.

I wish I was six foot six and three hundred pounds (and maybe thirty years old) I would fix the problem.

Being where you live, I'm thinking you have a pretty good sheriff. He prolly has critters too.

inconsiderate and illegal are not the same

If the aerial displays were illegal, a complaint should have been made to the local LEO agency.

Very little regulation of fireworks in MO so unless there's damage, it's just folks having fun.

I had a long, difficult day on July 4 and it wasn't a result of partying but I didn't berate my new neighbors(the ones who built a house far too close to mine w/o asking my approval BTW) for blasting aerial displays until 11PM. The livestock guard dogs were upset and added their canine version of air raid sirens to the blasting.

Next door is a big fireworks fan. So I water all the property. July 3 they set off a big one.I went outside and heard he fire engine siren. They went past my house and that when I saw the flames 60 feet in the air next door.

He is a renter and the house was not damaged to much. Lesson learned. Perhaps.

so far no deputies knocking on the door, guess the boys didn’t want to explain an old cowboy Roughneck called out the bunch of them.

Funny thing is a neighbor to the SE a quarter of a mile called my bride while I was over reading them the riot act and wanted to know why we were setting off big aerials after midnight, She replied “not us, but David is over there tending to business right now”. 😂 FWIW, we’ve never so much as shot off bottle rockets here at night, because we’ve always had bred horses, colts, ewes/lambs during this timeframe Loudest noise is the occasional 22 shot when I dispatch the errant Tom cat or dogfood theiving magpie.

Alpine, in the news on “the west side”, did you see where Hamers entire fireworks show blew up in one big bang? took out the pyrotechnics trailer and maybe their pickup, only one injury that I’ve heard of. Had friends there that said it was bright and a mighty roar.

Same problem in Colorado where any firework that leaves the ground is illegal at the local, county, and state levels. However, it is VERY rarely if ever enforced and the idiots, like the guy up the street from me, know it. Last 4th of July, my granddaughter worked in Dispatch all night. She took nearly 300 fireworks complaints. None resulted in a citation being written.

We had a terrible time of it in town and out at the ranch because of the beach… my mom had to stay home and hold the fort while my dad and I kept an eye on the horses and cows … I have a mare (Rae Shell) who hurt herself in May that I had to stand with for 2 and half hours...

I'm sorry about your neighbors, I have one I chewed out not long ago....

I will start a new thread about my experience with Rae Shell

I had them popping off since July 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Being California they're Illegal but what isn't here? The PD had the fuel powered road construction light display stating to report illegal fire works but they didn't seem to be doing anything about it. Even in bidenflation days they can afford illegal fireworks. Town over had a guy who blew off his hand so that was funny.

Where we are its pretty quiet, people are spaced out….but fireworks are such a pain every year.

I don't understand anyone wanting to pay hundreds of dollars for a mediocre firework show? Boom….pow….puffs of smoke….money wasted.

Its always the people with the least to show for themselves that buy that stuff as well.

I love the BIG firework shows…..its amazing what they can do.

I love that it is a set time, and OVER when its done.

The goobers that have $40 in their bank accounts most of the time will spend a week's pay to waste HOURS setting off garbage fireworks….until way late into the night…..OR….several days and nights.
